I base my argument of real world use and real world use of people I know. This includes 2 kids currently in college (again, non-enginerring, non computer science), CEO of small companies, small shop owners, restaurant owners, bunch of health professionals, etc. All of them would tell you for their use case, they would take battery life over heavy processing power any day and they would all say the processing power of this Intel is more than enough for them.Step out of your bubble for once and fathom a world that different people have different needs. This has to be the dumbest conversation to have. Are you going to go on every laptop thread that has a processor no better than this and cr@p on it? That's like 80% of the threads on SD.
100% agree. How do people in 2025 think that any relatively new laptop can't handle Excel? Like I get it, there is 100% a difference. People into tech Might feel a difference. Majority of the population will not feel that difference though. It's not shade against the target audience. It's just real world facts. There are still many people today who can't tell the difference between a display running at 60hz and 120hz.
Personally, from a consumer standpoint, this isn't a bad deal at all for a touchscreen laptop. Is it the best specs? Not at all. Will you feel a difference? No, because if you're looking at getting this laptop, you're not going to buy two laptops just to see if you can "feel a difference". This model is what, 2 years old? It'll be more than fine for most use cases. To think that any computer released in the last 2-5 years is crap is ridiculous.

There is only ONE 14" laptop that you can upgrade the RAM... it is made by MSI AND it sports two year old intel CPUs.The END of an era... and the right to repair has just gotten smaller. THIS IS BULLSHIT.
No, you can upgrade ram on the t14 (non s) series. You need to solder ram on thin laptops such as these. The fingers that hold ram down add too much height otherwise.

every.single.time ... there is someone who asks this question. How many people need to upgrade RAM in a laptop like this one?

No bro. This is straight cope. The 125U is a piece of garbage compared to the 8840/5 hs. You will definitely notice. Unless you use your laptop to use paint and notepad and maybe occasionally dare to open a browser tab, you will notice.
no, you will not notice it. Not even a little bit.

Bought this 3 years ago from SD at $899. Would still buy today at this price! I rarely use touchscreen but sometimes I do. Battery life is still great.

I run Civ 6 and other lower resource games.

Use it for Canva, Adobe suite, tons of browsing and more. Have loaded chrome to the t*ts with extensions and it runs fine.
Kinda crazy I'm so happy with this.
Cannot upgrade ram sadly. It's soldered

I am running 11th gen intel processor i5-1135g7 with 16gb ram on an x1 carbon and I do web browsing 7-10 tabs, youtube, spotify, spreadsheet, word, no issues whatsoever. Of course, you want to move the needle of my statement by now saying heavy spreadsheet work. No, I don't do heavy spreadsheet work. And again, I never mentioned any gaming. The intel core ultra 5 is 2 generations better than my 11th gen processor. I doubt it will be any worse if not better.
And I will take that bet 100%. 3 tab browsing, outlook and spotify. A layman using that will not notice the difference. I am not talking about you geeks with the stopwatch and benchmark running 24/7 in the background. If a laptop cannot handle that workload with an MSRP of over $500, 95% of them would be returned. I have celeron powered laptops that can handle that (probably the more important thing is at least 16gb ram).
Again, we are talking about the target audience of this laptop. High school students, non-engineering non-computer science college students, moms and dads, business travelers that needs to answer emails and occasionally look at a spreadsheet or word document.

You better hope nothing happens to your right nut.
You are spot on with this assessment. I have this model and the 13th gen i5- 1335u models deployed in the field and my employees have zero complaints. They need strong battery life being on the road all day and enough power to run 1 specialized x86 program and the rest of MS Office/ browser based apps. The build quality is very high for this price point (and even if it was closer to $800) and the screen is the only low point, but it is still adequate. If your primary use is having it sit on a desk connected to a monitor, that wont even be a factor.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank NIKKG

I bought it yesterday, seems pretty nice. Thin and light and plenty fast. Screen is nice and has a very good lighted keyboard. Also takes a microsd card that sits in flush for expandible storage. Plus headphone jack, 2 USB C's, 1 USB A, and a full size HDMI. The power charger is 65 watt USB-C. 11 to 12 hour battery on light use. For $500 bucks, its hard to beat.

I just verified that this work with a stylus from another lenovo computer I had. Is it the best or fastest laptop out there, of course not, but for the cost of an ipad, your getting alot of bang for your buck.

If all the people complaining on here can find me a better AMD one like this thats 2-in-1 and has all the features for $500, I'll exchange it as I still have 14 days left to return it.

I have a similar price (after this most recent bf discounts) and spec laptop (HP Envy) w/ Intel Ultra 5 125U and have been intensively using and testing it for the last few weeks. So far noticed no slowness generally. I have at least 8+ chrome windows open and several other side apps and 5 virtual desktops to move to and havent experienced any sluggishness; battery specs states 12 hours but actual is 6-7 hours but still happy overall with the $500 range and build quality of my HP Envy

Hope this helps someone in the boat of considering this $500 range laptop and is worried about the CPU performance; Agreed with the above conversation, in real world normal use case, there's no need to nit pick on CPU differences especially when value/cost is the highest priority

Intel has lot more cores than AMD plus build-in AI cores. Therefore intel machine is designed for productivities
