It's better to buy it from straight talk website directly since you could get better cashback (12% currently) from some cash back site. Also some chase card give 25% cashback for straight talk (capped at 15).

That can bring down the effective price to 204. (You still have to pay tax on 249 though)

Adding the link to the previous thread.
A bit more than the previous deal after taxes+fees but similar overall.
I purchased it last time and consensus was that you need to purchase the silver plan at minimum to get this price. Only need to buy one month of service. Wait another 30 days (60 days total) then the phone will be carrier unlocked.

It's not $50 higher than BF deal.
It's $40 higher than BF deal since this only needs $35 plan but the BF deal needs $45 plan.

I see ST has a $15/mo home phone plan. Would the 60day clock start ticking if this phone is activated on the $15 plan?

After adding to cart, when I open the cart, it's shown as unavailable and out of stock. Anyone else get this?

so i bought the phone from Walmart, how do i activate or select the $35 plan? I went to straghttalk, it only had $45 was the cheapest.

Thank you
Go to your closest Walmart and purchase the $35 ST card. Then follow directions on the card and via ST website. Took me 30 mins.

Bought two with intention to rebrand onto Tracfone since I have existing lines on TF but unsuccessful rebrand/activation with phone/chat reps Frown Any suggestions or will I have to fork out another 25-35 to buy a straight talk plan
Poped in ur existing TF sim to active the phone first, then called unlocking dept to confirm if the phone is activated, if not ask them transfer you to CS, most time they will get you a mgr which knows their system better than regular 611611 guys.

That's not recommended.

An already active sim from a different phone will screw up the unlock & not actually activate the new phone.

Always use original sim that comes with phone to activate correctly - it's linked to the phone IMEI in the computer system.

What oregon said. Do not use the same SIM across TF devices. Many people on Reddit have issues when activating the same TF SIM on a new device. It's a security thing. They might mark your SIM as stolen because stealing someone's SIM to get OTPs is a real thing. They're trying to prevent this. Other carriers also don't let you SIM swap freely, like Metro.

Guessing I screwed up. I accidentally activated it on Total by Verizon that I saw on the sim card booklet instead of Straight Talk. Think it will still unlock 60 days after activating on Total by Verizon?

While I support the conclusion that to stay in the safe side, you shouldn't use the same SIM across TF devices. But from my personal limited experience, it seems it either works or not work. For example, I have a phone and if I just pop in my TF sim, it will work for maybe 1 minute and then stop working and can't make/receive calls. But for other devices, if I just pop in the sim, it works fine for years. Even sometimes the device showed under my account change to that device automatically. For me, it looks like it depends on the device.

Again, it's not recommended to just swap sim on TF. But sometimes I am just too lazy to do a "official" swap with BYOD sim.

I've done it in the past with ST phones and TF but not recently - did you text 611611 to get unlock date? As long as system gives you a date it should be OK - if message says you're using your own phone then there might be a problem.

Ok, thx. I might be safe. Texted unlock to 611611 and it says it will unlock on 3/12/25. Smilie

Great! Phone will usually lock to first network it's activated on & since all 3 brands use same phone & sim as long as you activate with a month of service it should get set up correctly - otherwise it wouldn't have activated at all.

If you login in your account, does this device show up and it's active?
