Still waiting on US Bank to give me my $400 bonus for the prior promo that required two deposits totaling more than $5000.
I manager a deposit at a big bank and we have offers like this all the time but to answer your question, we do NOT accept transfers (brokerage, wireless, or any other). a direct deposit has a certain transaction code and that's how we track it. can't speak for us bank but they likely do the same.
This is the only bank where I did not received account opening bonus out of ~20.

3 week old thread promoted back to the top of popular.
Kickback must be really good on this.
Too bad Slickdeals doesn't share any of the Cashback/bonus. Always better to shop around as other companies/sites do share the wealth.
This is why I try to go straight to the website itself, instead of clicking on the referral links posted on Slickdeals, and see if the company is offering the promo on the front page of their website or whatever.
I don't want to Slickdeals getting ANY money, as they don't deserve it. hr majority of the deals posted here are from individual users, the staff on Slickdeals don't do jack, and Slickdeals makes all this money from posting their referral links over the original link.
Yeah, I was with US bank a lot of years. Not the same bank as long ago. Not a personal bank anymore. They don't waive anything for any reason is what I've heard from others. They don't seem to care if you leave. I left with the bigger money but keep an account so I can get money easily. I've also had problems getting promos to pay at US bank. I used to do promo's at Ameritrade with no issues. I don't know about Schwab now. US bank is marginal to me now.
Followed all the requirements and put extra in just in case. I only had 30 days left to go and they flagged my account as fraudulent. Reps would literally hangup on the phone when verifying my account. I was so happy when I got my original money back. No interest and no bonus. The said they will never take me as a customer again. I still don't know what went wrong they wouldn't tell me. So I'll stick with my 4 other banks
They are never calling you back if it's been two years. File a CFPB complaint , and I bet you have a resolution within 2 weeks. We have consumer-protective government agencies for a reason. At least for now.
They'll be gone anytime soon, Elon overseeing that part of the Gov now
Nope. They said their policy does not allow them to tell me and they are not supposed to continue talking to me. Probably the most one-sided infuriating response. Maybe because once I called and asked them to confirm that I had successfully done everything to get the bonus?

I did this offer last year and got my $400 in December. It was classified as interest. However, I did not receive a 1099 from US Bank. When I log onto my account and check tax documents, it states that I have none for 2024.
Anyone else experience something similar. I was under the impression that I had to claim the $400 received as interest earnings on my tax return.
Same here, it's been two years, waiting for them to call me back
My debit card expired with $1300 in the savings. They said they would send me a check with those funds. I waited 30 days and contacted them and they claim the account is considered inactive and they can't issue a new debit card nor issue me a check for my balance. I never had a bank refuse to let me withdraw my own money. I dont trust USBank.
As others have already said in this thread, if you log into the app/webapp for US Bank and click on your checking account, there's a tracker for all the promotional requirements. It shows which you've achieved.
I don't see it anywhere in the app? Is it under "Manage" somewhere?
By the way, I haven't seen it mentioned by anyone else on the thread. Maybe their comments were removed.

On my app, I just click on my checking account and there's a button right there that says "track your rewards progress". Once you click that it lists each requirement you have to meet like having your account have a positive balance, having two deposits, etc. it notes whether or not you've accomplished each of those requirements.
Do they pay you as you get fund DD? What if first 2 DD is over 5k. Then the third one gets me to over 8k? How does it work when they pay you? Do they want until it hits 8k?

it seems like they "recommend" to have both checking and saving account when open U.S bank account.

Sigh... those last two sentences are so true.
