This is the most foul tasting protein I've ever tried. I have a tub I can't bring myself to open.

TIL your avg normal healty person requires blood sugar control.
I guess you could ignore how many carbs/sugar you eat, but then you are more likely to be pre-diabetic and develop diabetes. Probably why the average person is overweight.

Be aware that this brand has a wide range of added vitamins and minerals on the ingredients list. Maybe not high enough amounts to bother most people, but if you're using other vitamin-enriched products, you could end up getting too much.

I regularly make a matcha (green tea) frappe (like Starbucks, but sugar free), and I put a scoop of this in it to give it some flavor along with a few drops of vanilla extract. It curbs my appetite for a few hours. I tried Dymatize, but its vanilla flavor is very weak.

Is the Creamy Vanilla flavor lactose free? I saw the tub photo on amazon say, Contains Milk and Soy.

Also, how does it compare to MyProtein Isolate Unflavored in terms of clean ingredients? I like MyProtein Isolate Unflavored because of how simple its ingredient list is:

"
Unflavored: Whey Protein Isolate (Whey Protein, Sunflower Lecithin) CONTAINS: MILK
" …😎

I guess that's why runners carb load.
Runners carb load to ensure they have maximized their glycogen storages. It wont increase the maximum glycogen storages. Any extra energy/glucose that is produce with the excess carbs is turned into fat storage. Marathon runners tap into fat storage through ketosis. Zero or low carb diet still have the ability to maintain the same glycogen levels. HOWEVER the amount of carbs you can process into fat storage daily will be greater then fat converted to storage. Youll need bile and other digestive process to utilize fat (MCTs are more easily digested). This is limited in the body and thus when you eat excess fat your digestion cant handle, it comes out the other end intact. These thresholds can increase naturally as your body increases bile production etc. Protein into energy is a hard process and the net energy output per gram of protein consumed is very low. (there have been studies done on cyclists consuming only whey protein drinks as a source of energy).

Runners are using their current diet and emphasizing on energy intake leading up to the marathon. MOST current diets are a carbohydrate rich diet.

Most people consume way more protein powder then they need and it is wasted into energy output. If your goal is protein only its possible the powder is cheaper at ~$0.75/25g VS ground beef at $X/lb for 112g protein VS chicken breast at $X/lb for 144g (plus other nutrients and fats). For me I dont see a use case for a processed food such as whey to enhance/benefit muscle building anymore then a balanced protein rich whole foods diet.

How and why are prices going to "sky rocket" in a couple weeks is the question?

Why would you need protein powder as a long distance runner? This is for adding muscle mass.

How is the quality of this? I picked up the Dymatize that comes on sale and it tasted good but I broke out on my face from it. I currently use Muscle Feast but it's super expensive. Any thoughts?

I switched to this after ON discontinued Pro Complex powder. I like that it is 0 carbs plus some essential vitamins are included in the shake. It seems clean but is a little high on the sodium side.

I left this same type of comment on another protein thread. I'm a competitive bodybuilder and I can tell you with using many different protein powders over many different programs and cycles / years, there is little discernable difference in muscle growth or anything you'd outwardly experience using one brand over the next.

Buy the protein that fits the macros you want at the price you want, at the end of the day it's going to make very little difference.

btw, if your face broke out possibly from a protein powder switch, make sure you look at the ingredients. Could be a type of sweetener or filler they're using that's unique to Dymatize.

Arguably you'd need both if you're a competitive LDR. I've spoken to many ultra runners who used to 'run only' (meaning no strength training) and they saw a spike in performance when their trainers recommended more muscle/strength training as a part of their regiment.

Also, if you're an LDR, or any athlete, and you're consistently carb-heavy on your macro splits, that's not always optimal if your protein macros are out of whack.

I was getting shoulder pain when using this. Itt can trigger fibromyalgia because it contains aspartame.
