I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

They use Verizon tower so it should work with their $15 plan. I see they also have the trial $3.5 plan. Interesting to see if that plan works. Highly doubt it though. I have not tried, but based on US Mobile debacle, I stayed with Visible $5.

Infimobile (on Verizon) is another option, as they've a $5 plan. I'm going to try that.

My 3rd order went through fine and I got a confirmation email too. But a few minutes later, I received an email with the following message:

There's been an issue with your order. Let's try again.
Your order 7xxxxxxxxx could not be completed as expected, but don't worry, we'll figure this out together.

The status page shows the order was cancelled. This is the first time I've ever encountered this. I've submitted an online ticket using the link in the email and will reach out to the support and see what the issue might be. Wish me luck Smilie

Install Metro app on iP13 and connect using data (app will later ask you to switch to wifi) -- you can swap device to another phone by giving new phone IMEI (new phone's Settings then Cellular page should show new eSIM available after a minute)
I'm confused on this. New phone can be any with metro sim? Can you clarify? I've tried online but it kept asking to change plan to swap device. I think it's because it's a 2nd line on a $75 plan which costs $35.

Metro security measures kick in after 2 phones. If you know how to get around them, it's possible to order more.

You may be right! Checked the number and the port-in has already been cancelled. Don't think they'll call me as the ticket says. Will have to try again.

I've successfully used FreedomPop Starter SIM Kit from Target to get a new cell phone number. Then use it for a couple of days on another unlocked phone and then port this number to the Metro by T-Mobile phone. I recently did this in October 2024. Here's a link to the Target FreedomPop card for $5. Hopefully your Target will carry it. FreedomPop's website lowest price is $10.

About this $5 kit, i bought one and tried to activate, but to do so, i have to pay for a plan on their website still, so there's another cost for that. Or did i do it wrong?

I am looking for recommendations on an RSIM or MKSD . Please pm if necessary.

Also, how does one buy an iPhone 14-16 with physical sim slot from Canada besides used at fleabay?

Quote from crazycool :
I like IP 13 since it still have physical SIM slot that I can unlock with RSIM or MKSD, and much easy to switch SIM when travel, physical SIM always cost less than eSIM. If I need to upgrade, I will buy it from Canada instead, since they still sell IP with physical SIM slot.

I just noticed the 13 is out of stock online. I wonder if my cancellation was due to Metro's inability to fulfill the order (the stock status became 0 when my order went through). Do you recall if that was what happened to you? I'm not aware Metro does post-order security checking.
