Yes I know. What is you setup that you trust?
If there were some security experts that say that the hardware they use eg intel have very strong security preventions that would make it unlikely. That's the question i had. One of the biggest benefits is that the chip is US made.

if by pointing out the actual fact which doesn't support your perspective, and therefore you felt the need to use personal attack. then i wish you have a good day and continue whatever you are doing.
It's not a fact, it's a lie. The law you cited specifically pertains to telecommunications service providers, full stop.

I have two Synology NASes and one UGREEN. I wouldn't pay full price for the UGREEN but I got in on the Kickstarter. For the price then for what I got, it's amazing. The hardware is solid and it works well. The caveat to that is I switched to unRAID because I didn't want to deal with an unknown OS that was still mostly in beta. UGOS was okay, but I wanted something that would be solid for years. unRAID fit the bill. TrueNAS would be good too, but I didn't want to wait until 24.10 for the switch to Docker. Now I use Synology as backups for the vital data on my unRAID. So from a hardware perspective, I recommend UGREEN. Even someone wants something that just works well enough, the UGOS is fine. It's far behind Synology but it's okay. If you don't mind fiddling a little, use some other OS.Going forward, I'm done with Synology. They've been and are great, but are just too expensive for what you get. They are great for people who need something easy to use though. So for several of my family members, that's what I recommend. For others who are fine installing and managing a new OS, you can do better building your own and using unRAID or TrueNAS or getting something like this UGREEN.
I'm running mine on TrueNAS. Works fine, even with 96GB RAM (only says it supports 64).

That's good to know.

If anybody is curious mine arrived today and it is built like a tank! I don't know if Ill get around to start setting it up tonight, I'm waiting on some other parts anyway.
I do have a question for those that have one. I have a mini pc on the way. When that is up and running I'm going to pull the 500g WD black out of the old laptop that I have been using as a Plex server. Should I replace the stock ssd with the WD or use it for cache?

I still haven't seen anything on it review-wise that wasn't from some obviously paid influencer. I have been curious about picking up one of their 2-bay models though (LINK [bhphotovideo.com]) just to test it out and mess with the OS. Gotta say though, I have been running Synology units for almost a decade now and they have never left me wanting for more other than a lower upfront cost!
Its UGREEN, of course they pay for favorable "reviews".
If they don't pay, they "gift".

CPU for this nas is not that great. The difference between this Pentium 8505 and N100 is an additional performance core and some cache. Price is higher than a 4 bay synology nas when on sale. I'm still using a synology 920+ with plenty of diskspace and will probably upgrade in 3 years+.

I'm running TrueNAS on it, but the native OS isn't as bad as people say. It's just not quite as feature rich as others.
How is TrueNAS compared to Synology? Thanks

Well that certainly makes me more interested. I may give it a try. Thanks for the response!
I wanted to update. I just added a 3rd 10tb to get raid 5. Says it will take 2 days, I moved around 4gb to the pool before trying this. Guess we will see how it goes

I still think this isn't priced quite low enough, but if you want some solid hardware and a system you don't need to build, this is fine.
Thanks for your update. People like you who spend time to help community member is the reason this is still going strong. I am thinking to go for UGREEN but like you said that it doesn't support RAID. Since you are already familar with Synology and UGREEN, I will appriciate if you can provide some additional information.
1) Can I install TrueNAS on UGREEN and use RAID?
2) Have you used TrueNas before? If yes, how reliable is this for RAID?

Yes, TrueNAS works well on it. I used TrueNAS a couple years ago on a different machine. It is extremely reliable but has a steeper learning curve than something like unRAID. I stopped because I needed to repurpose the case for a computer build. At that point I switched to Synology, which is solid, but eventually I needed better performance. When the UGREEN NAS popped up on Kickstarter, I got in on it. I considered TrueNAS, but really needed Docker containers. At the time TrueNAS didn't easily support Docker so I tried out unRAID and was hooked.

TrueNAS is a great option though.
