Best SRPG of the last ten years, IMO. Definitely worth picking up if you haven't played it.
I loved Triangle Strategy. Put 80 hours in it when I beat it. I played halfway of Tactics Ogre Reborn, but couldn't come to finish it.
This game is similar to Ogre Battle 64, which happens to be my favorite game if all time. You run around the land and interact with characters good or bad similar to Ogre Battle. Once a main battle starts, once you touch an opponent on the map, you can cycle through your nearby allies to attack instead, which is a nice feature in the game. The battles are automated based on where you set your team in a grid. Very good game, but way too many characters in my opinion. I eventually stop using generic characters in team because you recruit so many Named characters. I also played halfway, and stopped playing once Balders Gate 3 came out.
I give Triangle a 10, Tactics Ogre an 8, and Unicorn an 8.5.

I've been playing Triangle Strategy and I'm hooked. Story, Gameplay, and characters are balanced. It's the best I've played so far.

How is this game in comparison to?

Agreed, if SRPG games are your thing it's well worth the price for a physical copy of this game.

Agreed, I finished Triangle Strategy and really enjoyed it. Unicorn Overlord I stopped about 20 hours in because I got tired of the gameplay loop and battles. It's a really cool game and I'm sure it gets better (and I hope to revisit it soon), but I'm thinking I'm more of a final fantasy tactics-style-game guy rather than ogre battle.

Is there a performance difference in the game play based on gaming system I do understand one is more powerful than the other but does it matter in this case?

I've been playing this for the last 3 weeks on the switch. This is a great game if you're pressed for time and can only play a few minutes here and there. I knew I was old when I was excited you can pause during "cutscenes" and save at any time.

Awesome review. I'm 23h in at the moment and it's reinvigorated my love for this genre. I've always loved Tactics but TS is amazingly thorough, detailed, and friendly. I never knew how much I enjoyed losing a battle knowing it's not game over and you keep your exp gained.

Triangle strategys writing was a bit uninspired and the characters didn't have good balance but it did have the feel of FF Tactics. I wonder if the writing is better in this game and not quite as generic

Regrettably, no. The story and characters are still rather generic, and it largely avoids any real sense of ideological conflict by having most of the characters "possessed". So once you've freed them of possession, the conflict is resolved.

If you're in it for the story and characters, I suggest Tactics Ogre: Reborn (predecessor to Final Fantasy Tactics, assuming you've not already played it).
