Looks good but can someone explain how do these things get their HP ratings justification? It's spec'd at 7A draw on 120V which is barely 1HP.

Bought 1 these from wally world few years back & that one pulled 5 horses. Few months ago Lowes had sale on the stealth quiet Dewalt shop vac that also pulled 5 horses. Bought it & turned both the stanley & dewalt on @ home. The Dewalt is noticeability quieter, so I gave the stanley to goodwills.

I'm holding out for 10HP with USB-C.

I would go with half the size. 4 gallons is plenty unless you are in constructions business but then most likely you need a better unit.
Consider using bags and filter at the same time. Bags are cheaper, and filter will last pretty much forever

Eh, some of the smaller units have really small diameter hoses which leads to clogs. But yes, if you're just looking for something for vehicle cleaning, go smaller.

A horse can't really suck that hard. Nah, looks like it's "peak horsepower" which is some kinda dubious measurement of water sucking ability, like how cheap computer speakers used to say like 700 watt peak music power output or something.

FYI if you search Best Buy's website it's on there for the same price for another day or so. Just in case you have rewards certificates

more of a marketing term than a strictly technical measurement. It typically refers to peak horsepower, the theoretical max power output of the motor under ideal conditions (ie, before any losses like heat or friction).

Airflow (CFM) and suction (inches of water lift) are better quantifiable measurements of shop vac performance
