Bought two in store a little while ago. As others have stated, they rang up at $20 each. Two different associates gave me a hard time about honoring the $10 price because I didn't order online. I handed them my phone with the product page displayed and said: "Please show me where it says price only valid if ordered online." They relented, but you would have thought they were paying for the discounts personally.

I hate this new "must order online" gotcha retailers are playing.

Regarding the product: Nice assortment, quality is acceptable. As everyone reports, the tools are VERY difficult to get out of the set. Not something you'd want to try in poor iight, with cold fingers, roadside, etc. I'll take a Dremel with a grinding bit to clean up that issue.
Sounds like these employees don't know what they're talking about. When I went to the cashier with multiple sets this morning, the associate asked me to show her the online price in app I'm that particular store selected, and she simply manually changed the prices sheet ringing it up.

Just got this set. Not bad for $10. While I can do most stuff with my current 3/8 set, there are times 1/4" Drive is handy. I can see the ratchet wearing out if you use it often but its ok for occasional use. The ratchet's sockets release is a bit tricky but functional (not smooth / need to mess with it for a sec).

Question for those that got this set: there are 2 "bit couplers" (upper left side on the base of the tool set). The top one is for the driver bits. What is the bottom "bit coupler" used for? It is very small and does not seem to fit any of the other bits I have in this or any other set of bits I own.
I asked the same thing when I opened my kit this morning. But I came to the reverse conclusion that you did. The one marked bit coupler fits on the included ratchet and the hand driver in order to drive the 21 bits in the top of the case. The top one (which would be the 22nd bit that I didn't include in my count a sentence ago) is a redundant 1/4 drive bit. But of course you don't need it because the ratchet and the hand driver already have 1/4 drivers on them. My guess is that they also include these bits in another Kobalt set that only comes with a dedicated ratcheting bit driver, which needs the 1/4 drive bit for sockets, and they never replaced it with something else in this kit. Hope that makes sense.

Be forewarned these are selling out like hotcakes! I had to pick a different store for pickup twice as I was trying to check out.
Inventory is messed up. Showing 20, then 0. Ordered for pickup at another store, then the inventory went back up to 20. And now showing "Last Purchased Jan 21, 2025" 😂

B&M and Online stores are usually different entities, ie different companies. They have agreements to fulfill and accept returns. I assume that's why they are giving everyone a hard time.
All Lowes stores and web site are owned by one corporation.

Who's changing air filters on the side of the road? Never had an air filter emergency before.

This wrench is fine for that stuff , but it's not the emergency wrench you leave in the car. Not about price, you can get a good one cheap. This is a bad one cheap.
No one is changing air filters on the side of the road. But that's not what his original comment said, now is it? No, instead that's the strawman you created. What he said, originally, was that it's a nice "just in case" kit to keep in your car. You took that to mean emergency when there's no emergency that would present itself that 1/4 tools would be able to resolve. I had a just in case situation the other day riding in a friend's car. He went to top off oil and sat the filler cap on the side of the engine bay. The cap promptly fell in a well between the fender and the splash guard. Despite best efforts neither of us could reach it. His car, a Jetta ran very rough without the oil cap on, so didn't want to drive it in that situation. So we walked a quarter mile to the store because he didn't have tools in his car. Like OP said, it's a good "just in case" set that can also change cabin filters, which you wouldn't want to do with what would inevitably become a heavy 3/8 ratchet.

Placed order around 11am-ish where 8 were in stock at Lowe's near me. About 3.5 hours later, order was canceled... 😑

Store management probably knows as much as the associate knows.

Unless this is a ploy to get foot traffic into their stores with all the latest YMMV posts, this is a terrible customer experience. I went to Lowe's and bought a few things I would have normally bought at my closer HD.

This item was available for pick up at $10, the instructions say to "check store availability", I drove down, and found one that was taken out of the "pick up" inventory section where I saw they had tons that were for pick up.

So you can buy online and pick up at $10, but if you are handed one it rings up as $20 despite "check store inventory" I would understand if they stated "check store for availability for the opportunity to purchase at $20" because I sure as hell wouldn't have drove down.

Tried to get the $10 with 2 associates, no luck. I'm done with Blowes 😀, HD lets me hack all year long 😀

Oh, I am not arguing that it's crazy, just stating what I know. As a consumer, that should be handled on the backend and honored in person. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to play the game. I'd say, ok, I'll order online, send an employee to fulfill, then process the order. I'll just go grab some lunch and be back.

The extra socket by the bit holder is the 4MM shallow socket that is not in the row with the other shallow sockets, and it says 4 on the side. Notice there are only 10 metric sockets on the lower row, and 11 are included in the kit. Guess where the 11th, 4MM is?
Being new to tools, you may have missed this.

OK guys. I thought the comments about how hard it is to get the ratchet out maybe were insane, but I just got mine and it's true -- it's a huge pain to get it out!

However once you do get it out the first time, I find that if you replace the ratchet 'upside-down' -- i.e. with the anvil up/facing you, you can then 'swipe' the anvil to the side with your thumb and the ratchet will pop out of the clips. Then you can just lift it out.

You're welcome....

Won't help with the sockets but I suppose you might be able to crank most of them (all but the tiniest) to the side with the spinner tip and pop those out.

In mine, most of them can be pulled with a good finger pinch. With the others I can generally move the surrounding one(s) out of the way to get a better grip, or lever it a bit with the spinner.
