Was just looking at this because it was on sale on Amazon (and I need one) and discovered that it is on offer as a "free gift" when you purchase this battery set:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-20V-MAX-Lithium-Ion-6-0Ah-and-4-0Ah-Battery-and-Charger-Starter-Kit-DCB2460C/313759426 [homedepot.com]

Prices are prorated in cart, so hack is in play and you can easily return or just not pick up the battery set and get the router for $104.27.

I've never done this hack before but figured Id give it a go.

Tool was available for store pickup (today), battery ship to store (pickup next week). Checked out and my credit card was charged separately, for tool and battery. So looks like it should be straightforward to opt to never pickup the battery or return it.

This is how I've done it successfully many times in the past. Doing the same for this router for a project I'm working on!

I have this router - it's pretty chonky and people with smaller hands might not like it as much. You can always attach a base to it but it's not as easy to use one handed vs the Milwaukee, Makita, or other cordless trim routers

I just ordered and plan to do the same, not pick up the battery starter kit when it's ready at the store. Happy to get a discounted 60v battery!!

Not quite the same tools. Has a little more power and options then a trim router. That's why they call it a compact router, not a trim router.

I have it with both bases and the edge guide. They charge for the edge part, but it is a nice piece of kit.

You don't even have to return. You can order the two items for pickup at different stores, and then once you've picked up the one you want, go to the web site and cancel the one you don't. It's quick and you don't have to deal with any person who might realize what you're doing.

This deal can also be done with the "20V MAX XR Hammer Drill and ATOMIC Impact Driver 2 Tool Cordless Combo Kit with (2) 4.0Ah Batteries, Charger, and Bag" for $299. Does the final price of $104 change with this option?

And they don't ask for the router? On my receipt it does the battery cost $199 and nothing about the free gift

I just added to cart and it is working correctly. The order and receipt should break down by items as you can see here. I think you are looking at something wrong. You take the battery kit back and get the router for $104.26 which is great deal

Slightly separate deal that what OP posted.

If you add this router as the "free tool" to the driver/drill combo, it comes down to $124.41. Not as good a deal.
