I'm not a gamer myself, but this system is significantly more powerful than a Raspberry Pi without a doubt. There is a Linux distro called Batocera.Linux (https://batocera.org/) that is supposedly a turn-key solution for turning mini pc's like this into gaming consoles. Besides that, this comes with an apparently legit copy of Win 11 Pro as part of the $130 price tag.

Anyway, if your goal is retro gaming, a Raspberry Pi is smaller and more energy-efficient for these types of tasks, but honestly, once you add in a case, a good power supply (RPi's are picky with respect to power...), and storage, it is probably at the same price or even more than this $130 machine. But if you are interested in more modern gaming or more powerful emulation, this system would be better and give you more flexibility for future upgrades.
Fyi check out Reddit minipc forum, some users mention that these effectively have ZERO warranty.

Just saying buyers might want to read up.
N150 is a minor bump-up from N100

Could you please provide some more information about this cache starvation issue? I did a quick search on "N100 cache starvation" and then just "cache starvation" and did not really see anything immediately relevant.
It was an issue with alderlake which n100 is based on, which was rectified in 13th/14th gen where they boosted the cache to solve it, but then they botched those with other problems. Its been years so I don't remember which deep dive review covered it.

I have one of these and its fun. I got a $65 portable 1080p monitor running off battery and hooked-up via HDMI. If I were to buy a mini again I would go one with USB-C

I would have bought this thing, but no usb-c. My mini headless server with N100 is also usb-c powered as an option vs another dc barrel plug. If they make POE powered mini server, that would be golden.

Interesting if its indeed powered by POE. Ill have to look more into it, as I just got my fanless N100 with 10gbs and 2.5gbs ports.

Is this better than a raspberry pi for the guts of an arcade build?
These things are actively cooled and I for one don't like that. I bought 2 NUCs and the fan failed in both of them within 6 months. The Pi might be less powerful but it's passively cooled... One less thing to break. The Pi hardware is also a lot more standardized than these NUCs... If you don't want to worry about dealing with drivers etc after you have to replace your failed NUC with a different brand or model in the future, that could be another compelling reason to choose a Pi over a NUC.

There are fan less versions of N100 mini-pcs; they are just way more expensive as the shell is a giant aluminum heatsink. I have one.

Ah Thank you both.. Actually I had to go to the bottom of the page to go to classic site, I was using the redesigned site that takes all those options out. I remembered I used to see it .

It confirmed what I wanted to know, my link was the G2 version. and that post help lay out the differences. In the end I think the prices just changed and there might be a chance that these might get caught up by usps due the the tarriff war unless someone can confirm they are being shipped from the US.

Hard to say unless you let us know what kind of CPU is in your Dell. But assuming it has the latest Intel Core CPU as of 5 years ago (10th or 11gen), then it will totally outperform this one at the expense of higher power consumption.
i7 6700T. Its a old 4C 8T processor. Works beautifully.

For single threaded tasks, the two will be neck and neck. But for multithreaded stuff, the i7-6700T will pull pretty far ahead due to hyperthreading.

The GPUs in the two should perform similarly as well, unless you're using some of the extra codec support the N150 has that the 6700T doesn't.

The biggest advantage of the N150 is lower power consumption, especially at full load.

Except if the firmware is compromised, it's possible for it to reinstall the virus from the bootloader.

The sdd was identified to have the bug on a partition. Its since been removed the factory was "unaware". I run linux on these. No issues. Even windows runs clean after a full ssd wipe and reinstall.
