They collected all my information. SSN, employer, DL, Etc. They sent me a 6-digit security code to my phone, which I correct entered into their website. After entering the correct 2FA code, it asked for it *again*, and an email came through rejecting my checking account application without explanation. Bizarre. Never turned away from an account in my life. Oh well. There goes my personal information into another database.

Trial deposits hit yesterday, and the aggregate of the deposits was then withdrawn from my linked bank. I went to enter the two transaction amounts, and it told me they were the wrong amounts, LOL. Does anything work at this bank? I took screenshots from my connected account showing the transaction amounts, and the screenshots from BoH website rejecting those transaction amounts (entered deposits in both possible 'orders'.). Another day, another problem at Bank of Hope.


Edited to add: You just can't make up how inept this bank is. When you are within the external transfers help section, they provide the email contact address for getting in contact with them: [email protected] . When they send you the 'rejection' email saying that your external transfer account couldn't be linked, they say
in the email : " If you wish to discuss this further with a Customer Service Representative, please send an email to [email protected] or call 855-325-2226. " The email address literally bounces back anything you send to it as an monitored address.

How stupid can they be?

I don't think keeping your accounts open for a short time indicates money laundering. After all, Chex doesn't keep track of your transactions (money going in/out). Chex keeps track of accounts opened/closed, inquiries on your Chex report, negative info (overwithdrawn, rejected deposits, etc) reported by financial institutions (FIs). Some FIs use Chex reports to weed out people with negative info and the "churners" who only keep their accounts open for a short time.
