I'd say this is a pretty damn good deal for a big tri-fuel generator. I purchased this for $550 on one of the last deals. They sent me the newer gray model and it looked like new. I contacted Firman about the missing cover and 30Amp outlet cable. They explained that refurbs didn't come with those accessories but then went ahead and sent them to me as a curtesy. The electric start fires right up and this thing seems to run great.

On the negative side this generator is loud, not very fuel efficient, and some complain about having high THD.

But for the price. This thing makes a great emergency back-up generator that can run 240v appliances and run off natural gas.

Time for the good old Firman refurb lottery again?

Safer to get one from Ebay where it's way easier & more certain to get a full refund if they ship you a DOA turd. I've gotten 3 Firman refurbs from ebay - two were alright, but one arrived without functioning AC output.. it's still sitting in my garage (they didn't even want it back) but thankfully I got a full refund via ebay.

It's a combustion engine generator, they all need regular maintenance...

Do you connect to 3/8" natural gas line? How far is from the meter? Does 3/8" provide enough flow? Mine is about 50 ft away from gas meter. I'm not sure what size to use.
Thank you.

I bought this on a recent deal last year. After reading about supply line sizing for low PSI NG I chose a 25' 3/4" flexible hose that I can connect to a shut off by my meter. It runs great with that.

Great deal. Picked this up two years ago at Costco for $800 and don't regret it. Infinite runtime on your house's natural gas.

It's loud - that's the only downside.

Yep, that's a good point. Mine came from Ebay. I paid a bit more at $550, but It has a 2 year warranty verses the 90 day warranty when buying directly from the Firman site. So you may want to keep that in mind...

So you need a reducer to connect to the 3/8" port on the generator.
Appreciate your input.

My old durostar died during the last hurricane. Never got it running again. Was hoping to catch the good ol ebay deal on the refurb firman 4000W dual fuel for around $350. With this thing i can run the AC so it was hard to pass up. Thanks OP!!!
