I had a friend who got scammed by buying a pair of AirPods from someone else. The best way I could tell that they are fake is if you have an original pair of AirPods Pro then you can try to fit the earbuds in your original case. From what I saw, even though they are really good replicas the dimensions aren't the same and won't fit in an original case. They'll fit but not sit right and won't charge.

How does one sanitize these? I'm not very comfortable using earbuds that were in some one else's ears.

Everyone should beware! I bought one set of the "Excellent" online and received today and exchanged for another set of "Excellent" in store and both are missing the attached medium sized ear tips.

This is even though the "Excellent" open box very specifically states it comes in original packaging with all included parts and accessories.

Make sure they're not paired to somebody else's Apple account.
I bought AirPod max in 2023 open box from Best Buy. They were in immaculate shape but when I got them to my car it showed them as "so and sos air pod max." I took them back. They apologized and asked if id rather have a refund or a new pair. Funniest part was the open box ones were pink and I was able to get a brand new pair in blue. Worked out in the end!
