I can confirm the reduced pricing at a Northern California Costco warehouse. I saw the drop and picked one up.

But the vulnerability thing just is a frustrating thing on many levels. Which is why I mention Orbi.
Edit: maybe you can run custom firmware that avoids the issues. Something I'll try and figure out.

It's a good article because it points out there aren't specific known vulnerabilities in just TP-Link routers but all Chinese made routers.
What has me a little uneasy is my deco hasn't had a firmware update since last July and it's one of the recent higher end models.
