Unless you specifically need this watch, I would opt for the Epix 2 for $389. amoled touch screen, upgraded GPS, 32g storage(music / maps), WIFI ... Much better watch and only slightly more money.

The Epix 2 is a dealbreaker for me simply because I'm a MIP and no touchscreen fan, otherwise I'd agree. I just wish the 900 series forerunner line did sapphire glass. But I guess I'm the kind of person that would rather spend double the amount for a Fenix 8 or Enduro 3 and wear it for 6-10 years (I've had my Fenix 6x for 5 years now I think).

check out the Fenix 7's. They have been coming down in price. If it says Titanium it is Sapphire lens and 32gb internal storage. The Endura 3 has the MIP screen with a bigger solar ring and a clearer lens as it doesn't have the solar overlay on it. Those start at $899 and have been rated the same as Fenix 8 without the microphone / speaker. Wink That one is on my radar now (Enduro 3).

The upgraded (dual band) GPS and 32GB storage are exclusive to the titanium/ sapphire version. Those features are NOT on the basic stainless steel version. That version has SatIQ and multiband with 16GB storage. Almost functionality equivalent, but definitely worth noting.
Just an FYI for those considering it.

Suggestions for Epix or Fenix as alternatives mean unnecessary bulk and weight for a great many who use Garmin just for training, not as wrist candy.

100%. Most runners I know opt for the forerunner series because it is a lighter weight. A handful of them go for the Fenix style watches if they expect to beat it up or are generally just large enough people that the weight difference isn't apparent. I always bang my watch on stuff and do a lot of work around the house, so I went with one of the more rugged options. You can get used to the weight, but it is noticeably bulkier. I've had a forerunner before and it definitely looked used, haha.
