Last 3 times I travelled out of EWR, CLEAR took longer than TSA Pre. Unless it's free, I don't see the point of this, especially since they are always short staffed at EWR.
Sick bro
Clear is not worth it. TSA pre does the same thing but for cheaper plus its in far more locations and for $120 you get global entry which clear does not

Reading at the comments above, I've TSA pre, so there's no advantage of CLEAR. Is that correct?

It really depends on the airport. I've used Clear at LAX and it's been faster than precheck . . . but not always. I've also used it with my large family (4 kids that day) in NOLA and we went right to the front of the longish precheck line. I don't travel enough to pay for it, but as a free perk with AMEX, there's no real downside.

Thanks. If it's free I'll take it but don't have it on my card. Good to know.

Sweet, got Amex platinum about a month ago and had been procrastinating setting up clear. For once, procrastination pays off!

Anyone know if the uber credit can be used on uber eats too? I'm assuming it can right?

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Is this deal is only for the Plat card members? Or the Clear would not charge for the first year of membership?

Certain cards include $199 clear plus credit, but if you do not have those cards then this is not worth it.

As a lapsed Clear user, the Uber $75 promotion banner didn't show up for me when I logged in. I clicked on the renew and there was a spot to put in a promo code so I tried VDAY25. The following step gave me the fine print on the $75 Uber offer so it looks like that worked.

Thanks for the heads up OP - this was mostly an unused perk for my Plat card, but I'll sign up for a free $75 in Uber credit!
thanks I did this too, and seems like I got the $75 credit too. Please keep us updated if you get the uber credit email

I fly often and it really just depends on the lines. Sometimes Clear is significantly faster, sometimes Pre is the same. Delta Digital ID at JFK is the best right now... no line at all. But it's good to have Clear if you're not actually paying for it yourself.
yes but the biggest miss as that CLEAR does not (most likely never will) have any international travel security benfit like Global Entry and is very limited in its locations.

Not actually true-- even if you're not saving time in line you still have a fundamentally different -and faster- security screening.... shoes, belt, and light jacked all stay on--- laptop doesn't have to come out of the bag, often you don't need to stand in the 360 scanner but just go through a normal metal detector, etc...

Also not actually true.

CLEAR after scanning your ID walks you to the front of the security screening checkpoint-- but doesn't change WHICH checkpoint you go to.... if you don't have precheck you just get to go to the front of the queue for the normal security screening--- if you DO have precheck you get to go to the front of the queue for the precheck security screening.

So they're complementary things.... in SOME airports it'll be quicker to do the CLEAR line to jump in front of the precheck line. In SOME airports it won't be any faster (maybe even slower if people are dumb there and get in the longer line over and over).

If you can only get ONE then for sure get precheck. But if you can get CLEAR for free might as well since once in a while it CAN save you notable time.
I have CLEAR so I spoke from experience but to each their own. I also ahve TSA PRE and Global Entry. CLEAR is limited in locations, has suffered security breaches (TSA has more but atleast there is immediate govt accountability, not with CLEAR which is a privately owned business), and most importantly has no foreign travel security/immigration benefits which Global Entry with TSA Pre does. Also its more expensive that either combined. Shoes, belt stay on with TSA pre as well at almost every major airport

Is there any other credit card that offer Clear credit beside Amex Platinum? Already signed up for Clear last year with Amex Business Platinum.
