You can go thru Costco or Sams club if youre a member. Saves you the $35 fee and you can earn up to a $100 gift card for upgrading.

Seems like Simple Choice does qualify and gets you up to $500 trade in value.
Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

Sucks that they charge tax on MSRP of the phone. Why not charge tax on the discounted amount like we pay for everything else?
This is pretty standard. If you win a new car on a TV game show it's the same deal. Doesn't really make sense but it is what it is.

Just upgraded from a 13. This seems to be the most underwhelming upgrade yet.
Same. Hoping that Apple Intelligence eventually amounts to something.

I'm probably going to the use the Audio Recording transcription + AI summaries a lot, so worth it for me.

I feel you... 13 pro to 16 pro..
My battery life was rough and I was tired of trying to shuffle crap on my 128gb... At least new battery and double storage..
Apples upgrades really feel flat lately.

I was just told by a local costco rep that I won't get the $100 gift card unless I sign up for the protection plan. He said t-mobile specifically changed their fine-print for this promo. Can anyone please confirm?

Important information about upgrading through Costco:

Last November, I upgraded four lines via Costco. One line was upgraded at a physical T-Mobile store inside Costco, while the other three were upgraded by calling the T-Mobile number specifically for Costco members. Before proceeding, I verified that this number was indeed dedicated to T-Mobile customers who are Costco members. Everything seemed correct, and I submitted rebate requests for all four lines.

However, after 90 days, the promotion was denied for the three lines I upgraded over the phone, with the reason being that they were processed directly through T-Mobile. It appears there is a significant backend issue that fails to properly track the upgrade channel. The line I upgraded in the Costco store was approved without any issues.

I spent two hours with the rebate team, but they insisted that the three phone upgrades were done directly through T-Mobile. To ensure you receive the promotion, I strongly recommend upgrading your lines at a Costco store that has a T-Mobile kiosk.

Called into Costco T-Mobile. I'm only getting $500 credit on trade in since I'm on SWAC. They said they would up front the cost of the fair market value for my iPhone 13 Pro Max to my bill ($250) then the rest would be distributed over the 24 months. This would make the monthly cost for the iPhone 16 pro to 31.25 a month instead of 20.83.

Is everyone getting this system with Costco vs T-Mobile online or did I get a one-off salesman?
Quote from ready2rumble :
SWAC turned into Advantage Unlimited--is this what you have too? I had SWAC and now Advantage Unlimited on Tmo since the transition

Same here. I looked in the T life app earlier. It is good for the $500 off. Incidentally my sim is currently in a moto edge 2024 (via the free prepaid deals last fall) and what T-Mobile shows me using. It's offering the full $500 for that even though it's usually not in any of their full trade value lists. I also have an iPhone 12 with shot battery and an edge 2022. I might try my edge 2022's iemi and see what happens. Didn't have it handy earlier. If that works for full value, that's the one they are going to get! Otherwise I'll trade my iPhone 12 which is no gray area. I'm holding out until next week to see if the new SE ends up free. If so and the phone has everything rumored, there really isn't a single additional aspect of the 16 worth paying $300 more for to me. I saw on Reddit this deal is supposed to be around until March 20 or something like that. If it doesn't pan out, I like my edge 2024 just fine, so no big deal.
SWAC is technically Magenta Max for promos, and you should get $830 for upgrading. If you try adding a line instead, you will see $830 (which is the same as Magenta Max). The T-Mobile backend is wrong for upgrading SWAC. I chatted with T-Force, and they manually fixed my order for me and said they are fixing the T-Mobile backend soon. The more people complain, the faster they fix it.

Is it 500 back on a qualified trade in and the rest via 24 monthly credits for an upgrade?

I ordered one through Tmobile thinking you had to submit the trade in device in store.

Got the connection fee waived afterwards but missed out on the gift card. Oh well.

Very interesting and I hope you are right! Did the rep indicate when they should have the fix completed? I suspect it might be the day after the promo ends (whenever that may be) LOL

that's how it is. The value of the value that they consider will be a one time bill credit and the remainder from the $500 will be divided by 24 months

so let's say you trade in a device that they consider is worth $100. They give you that as a one time bill credit and the remainder $400 is split up in 24 bill credits.

also, a lot of you guys are giving high end phones. It's best to get the cheapest phone possible. As with everything there are risks when buying from ebay/swappa etc...
but I personally wouldn't trade in a 13 pro max. I'm having a hard time letting go of a spare 12 that I have...

Sometimes it's easier to trade in what you have instead of taking a chance. I get it though….but we are sending in a 14 pro, 14, 14 Pro Max…and a 6s plus.
