You can go thru Costco or Sams club if youre a member. Saves you the $35 fee and you can earn up to a $100 gift card for upgrading.

Seems like Simple Choice does qualify and gets you up to $500 trade in value.
Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

I just went through the checkout process at Apple for a iPhone 16 with my T-Mobile Magenta Plan, trading in my iPhone 13 (didn't hit the final "Place Your Order" button yet). It looks like I got the $530 total discount off the $829 price: $235 discount off the bat for trade in, $30 extra discount for ordering at Apple, and $265 of bill credits spread over 24 months, so the total I pay is $299 plus tax (and I'm pretty sure I'll see a $35 activation charge on my next bill). Apple even let me pay an extra down payment of $299 so I shouldn't see my existing TMobile monthly payment increase.

HOWEVER, on the final checkout screen, it says my plan is, or will be, $180… right now it is only $120 for 4 lines, 2 are free. I'm hesitant to place the order because it sounds like they're changing my rate plan. Any ideas?

Can i buy at Costco, get the phone, activate it,but dont use it? Then switch back my pixel for two years?
I just want to trade in a iPhone 12 that my kids is using at home for games, no data plan needed, just wifi, which could be an upgrade for her
Yes, you can.

No where else was going to give me a 500 and 75 gift card for my iphone 13 with a half working battery though. Without losing my $30 unlimited plan......
They are not "giving" you $575. They are giving you that discount to "buy" the phone. The phone 16 itself is actually worth at least $250-$300 lest than it's MSRP as of now. Your iPhone 13 worth at least $250. So literally you don't gain anything when you trade in the 13.

The oldest iPhone you could trade in for the $500 credit on simple choice is an 11 pro
So the most I can get is $250 plus $100 costco credit?
Everyone keeps saying you get 500 so I am confused.

Also upgraded via Costo route and received the similar msg like your. Question, it stated the trade-in value of $40 instead of the promotion credit of $500. Do i need to concern? my cousin did it via Tmobile site, and from his account, the upgrade listed as $500 promotion credit for 24 months instead of $40 one-time trade in credit.
What phone was it and what plan @leothreethousand?

I don't know why you are confused, you are trading a 6S, those will only get you $250 worth of credit for trade in. You will get $500 worth of credit if you trade in one of the following:

Get up to $500 off:

Apple iPhone: 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 14, 14 Plus

This is all assuming you're on an older plan. If you are on MagentaMax or Go5GPlus plan, you will get a little more credit, I believe it's $415 for a 6S

No. u cant trade it in at Costco. You can mail it or take it to the store.
So I could get the deal at Costco, and return the devices in a t-mo store instead of mailing it in? Do I read this correctly. Has anyone does this way?

If you got hit with the price increase last year, then your current plan doesn't have price lock and can be hit with price increases at any time. Same goes for any currently available plans like Gogo and Magenta; prices can increase at any time and since there are no contracts, you can leave at any time once you pay off your EIPs.

Here is a simple Magenta Max vs Go5G Plus calc [reddit.com] that a redditor made. There is a more complete calc that another redditor made, but I think someone broke the calculations so I didn't link it here.

Here is a search of the plan price estimates [reddit.com] that other people asked. You might be able to figure out your plan, or use their questions as a template for yours.

The question about whether or not to upgrade is a personal one. SC, One, Magenta, and Go5G share 90% of the same features, so don't expect a dramatic improvement of service moving to another plan. The biggest differentiator are the promotions offered, and only you can decide if it's worth it for the cost. The only thing to keep in mind is that you can move your plan at any time to Go5G, but you cannot move your plan back (without a huge fuss).
Thanks
