rep claims that the carrier is going through accounts and "correcting" the policy they fall under (i.e., supposedly, lines activated pre-4/1 will auto-unlock after 60 days???). not sure how true this is
Did they unlock your phone? If so, did you pay for a second month?

So the bronze plan is good enough?
Yes. Enable autopay to get extra discount and cancel it right away after the purchase.

Same exact situation here. It seems like most people are getting unlocked, but I haven't been so fortunate. At this point, it's looking like it won't be until 6/2.

The weird thing is that their unlocking policy page (https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/) said that I was eligible on 5/4 (after refilling), but after I submitted the unlock request through that page something changed and the next day said I was NOT eligible.

My phone did not unlock. I chatted with Straight Talk support through live chat. I was directed to Apple support. I requested a supervisor and was denied. I tried again, was directed to the unlock department. I was denied an unlock because of the new policy. The employee said the policy has not changed. I requested a supervisor. I was denied my request.

I had chatgpt draft a letter to the FCC, BBB, State Attorney Generals offices Division of Consumer Protections, and my credit card company. I filed each of the complaints online. It took me about an hour.

Within 24 hours I received a call from Straight Talk. I was offered a $10 plan for 30 days. I declined, and requested the ability to return the phone. They denied my request. I explained that I would update my FCC, BBB, State Attorney Generals Office, and Chargeback complaints with a recap of the phone call.

I was told to restart my phone. It unlocked. I thanked the support agent for all of his help. He laughed and hung up.

Now I will do it all over again three more times over the course of the next two weeks.

A letter to the FCC and Credit Card company is likely enough, but I figured I'm already complaining, lets file this everywhere.

Check your IMEI on sickw.com. Sometimes the phone doesn't get the unlock signal but Apple servers may already show unlocked status.

3/5 - Activated
3/21 - Ported Out to Metro
5/5 - Activated a 2nd month of service through the straighttalk website, which still shows the IMEI of the phone. Gave me the option of keeping the number or getting a new one so I'm hoping this means the system doesn't differentiate between the number being ported out or letting the month lapse.
5/6 - Today is day 61 since activation and currently still SIM locked.

Were you able to get your old number activated? That'd be a miracle to have the same number active on both Metro and ST. Most likely it's just poor IT implementation at ST and it'll error out.

Just to clarify this is without paying for a 2nd month right? I activated a 2nd month of service and it's day 61 but still not unlocked. It may be due to me porting out the number during the 1st month instead of letting it lapse. I will have to go your route if it doesn't unlock within the next few days. Any idea which of those agencies resulted in ST calling you back within 24 hours?

Nah, since it gave me the option, I was hoping it can't tell that the number no longer exists. I opted for a new number so I didn't have to potentially go through the headache of the system screwing up somehow.

That is correct. I did not pay for a second month. I only had the one month that came with the purchase. I activated the phone when I received it. Put it in a drawer. Waited. Was denied my unlock request. Then did everything on my previous post.

Also, I didn't close my Credit Card dispute after the phone was unlocked. If my credit card company reaches out, I will tell them Straight Talk did unlock the phone and that they may close the case. If they don't, then that's Straight Talks problem. I had to spend my time, they can spend theirs.

Submit a FCC complaint. Submit a chargeback dispute. Make sure to share a copy of the previous policy and the current policy. If you have a chat transcript denying the unlock add it too.

Edit: Also, no idk which one caused this. I did receive a confirmation of my submission with the FCC and a ticket number. So I think it was either FCC or Credit Card. Since my dispute with the CC is still open, I lean towards FCC being the one that caused them to call me.

Sunday was day 60 for me, I was hopeful but still figured I'd need to buy a second month so did that yesterday when it was still locked (day 61 @ 3:36 PM PDT).

Today (day 62 @ 9:23 AM PDT) it's still SIM locked but I'll post again when it changes. Hopefully we don't need to wait the full 30 days, it seems like most have it unlocked before the second month of service is up so I'm trying to stay optimistic.

Would you please update if you can have it unlocked after the payment? Thanks
