I really wish Google would just go ahead and implement a feature on Android that would allow ANY Android device to update the location of a tag, much like Apple does with their airtags. t's next to useless in my eyes considering only a quarter of people in the US actually have a Samsung device versus Apple users at 60%.

Bumping it up from 25% to 40% by implementing some sort of ability to update a 'Google Tag' would make an android based tag much more feasible...

These things are fantastic, particularly if you have a Plus or Ultra model phone with UWB. I was concerned about the network coverage originally, but I leave one attached to a bike outside, and it gets location updates pretty regularly when somebody with a Samsung phone walks by. Battery life on the 2nd Gen devices is hugely improved, and the newer form factor is nice - the shape and textures are very satisfying to fidget with. The built in keychain is a nice touch.

I honestly use my keys to find my phone much more frequently than the other way around, so it's been when more useful than anticipated. This is a great price for a single, though I have seen 4 packs for $15 each.

I have the older version of these and recently used them on our trip to England. Granted, it was a cheap battery (and several years old), but I laughed when it started to give a low battery warning after about 3 weeks.

I think I'll buy two of these and load all four, old and new, with new batteries that I ordered to have a competition. Maybe I can get more than a month out of the old ones.

[edit] Yikes, arriving in early to mid April. Plan ahead!

Someone developed an open source app call uTag so other android devices can use the app to use Samsung smart tag now

I don't think I did much special.
My whole family has S24 devices.....
We all have Smart Things Enabled.
I'm not sure my kid has any of the keys registered.
My wife may have one set but not all like I do.

I open the app, it says not near me.
I pull up map and it has the history for today and I can change to other days.
There were 3 checking for my wife and two for my kid...both about 30 minute drives.

(2 Cars, 3 Drivers....We swap cars and keys a lot....so we are often hunting around the house in closets, clothes piles, etc... )

I believe these are only for Google Find My Device, and I went with these because there are a whole lot of Android phones out there. I was thinking about getting the credit card one too, but I didn't like the fact that you couldn't change the battery, at least for the Chipolo one; it was a throwaway, and I hate e-waste. I would like them to provide one where you can recharge the battery.

These work great. I always put one in my luggage and had no issues finding by bags in Hawaii, Germany, S Korea and obviously at my home airport.

This is done in the app, not by manufactures. You can choose whether or not your phone participates in Google's Find My Device network.

The white ones mar up and get grungy pretty easily. I would t to be surprised if that's why the white ones are always on sale. Next time I'm getting a black one no question for that reason alone. I can only assume it will not show.
