If I have a oscillating multi tool with the sander pad, is there any point to getting this dedicated detail sander?

Depends on your application. The multi tool will leave more marks as it's just going side to side so if you're doing wood work and going for the best look then get the dedicated sander, but if you don't care and just need to remove some wood- the multi tool with sanding pads technically works just fine for that.

Orbital sander is your friend when needing smooth out large areas like in drywall or wood doors vs multi-tool more for small detail work.

When I added this to the cart it bundled them into one item. Does it separate into two separate returnable line items after the purchase?

Not a huge fan of this. But probably just my use case. It also takes proprietary shaped pads - there are some knockoff available or you could cut mouse shaped pads.

I'm gonna try the m12 polisher with a sander pad instead.

I've done the hack before, but this one is confusing me. What combination of items do you select to get the sander down to $79? Once you pick your bundle, it adds both to the cart as a single item with a higher bundle price, so you can't calculate what the hack price is. When I've done the hack in the past, the add-on item was free, and when you return it, you end up discounting the original tool by that much. This time, the add-on item adds the price of the sander and the add-on together for the single item price. Maybe others are seeing something different than me.

Looks like the OP has abandoned the thread. The deal can't be replicated.
