I believe both versions have a problem with the bottom thumb button. After a few years of use, it will get stuck in the clicked position and rendering the mouse un-usable. Fix requires you to take the mouse apart. Problem is it has small, specialty screws, so you most likely will need to order a $10 screw driver kit off Amazon/Ebay.

Compared to MX 3, MX 2S feels more plasticy and cheaper quality.
The scroll wheel is much louder.
The infinite scrolling is much nicer on MX 3.
As others mentioned, the side buttons are hard to use.

Looked on eBay for dongles but then realized the cheaper ones come direct from China and yeah,,,,,,, what if they're fake ones with keylogger built in.. sigh…. I wish for blissful ignorance on such matters but I can't
So a decent genuine dongle is about $10, so now total $60
