ST/TF/TW unlocks require a plan purchase. So you can no longer activate a new TF branded phone on an existing plan and get it unlocked. This is a new unlock policy since July 2024. The wording "This deal is good for existing straighttalk customers." is not entirely true if the idea is to unlock on an existing plan.

You can disable anything in Android with adb. Also realizing that most people don't know this but once you disable Device Pulse and Mobile Services on TF branded Androids, you will no longer get auto-installed bloatware. I disable these before connecting to WiFi.

Even as a "power user" I don't care about unlocking the bootloader if it takes 2 minutes to disable the two bloatware packages. I noticed that TF also stopped using the TF splash screen, at least on the midrange Androids, which gets rid of another reason to load the stock ROM.

It will unlock on day 61 after activation. It only requires initial service activation, no renewals needed. It should unlock automatically remotely when connected to wifi.

I'm a Canadian, how do I go about getting this deal. I understand I need take a plan for first 30 days and wait for 61 days to unlock.

I can place a pick up order at Niagara Falls and pick it up. What should I do after that ?
While you're still in the US, activate it immediately. Verify carrier functionality works, then you're free to take it back to Canada and you should be fine...

This phone is fragile. I got a 2023 one and I sold it on eBay after 1 month of usage. It is awesome for the convenience of carrying it.
I don't know why this comment got downvoted to hell, I bought this same 2024 Razr phone from Total by Verizon and the screen broke in the center where the hinge is months after use. Still waiting on my replaced from Total after 3 months.

I can confirm the 30% CB. It didn't show up in the browser extension, but I received it later in an email.
Through where did you get 30% cb?

I got this deal. The google assistant ("okay google") does not work on this phone unless the phone is open. Google Gemini is horrible and insufficient to replace google assistant, but it does work from the closed screen. Since I use my phone to adjust the thermostat, control the lights, hear the news and the weather, I would not buy again due to this issue.

And buying from WM online can be problematic due to uninformed employees that don't scan both codes correctly - see previous issues with iPhone 13 over past Christmas holiday deal.
Best to buy direct from ST website or in WM store to avoid any problems.
can you explain what code needs to be scanned ?

I can throw my 2 cents on this thread which might be a little helpful for some of the buyers. If you purchase this ST, TW, TF locked phones you need to activate this with a new plan. I would always recommend TF $10 plan (auto renewal enabled). This is the cheapest you could get for one month plan on all of their branded networks. If the phone is locked to ST, TW then contact customer service and ask them to change the phone's brand to tracfone so that you can activate with tracfone plans. As soon as they change the brand then activate with $10 TF plan and have the phone unlocked after 60 days. Please know you dont need to pay for the 2nd month of service. Just leave the phone as it is. If the phone is android then you have to submit an unlock request online at https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/home iPhones get unlocked automatically. You dont need to request.

That's out of date information - 2024 Motorola & Samsung models automatically unlock, no request needed (just like iPhones) - been that way since early last summer.

Getting Android phones in ST/TW is not worth, Not able to reset the mobile complete as bootloader is locked, you cant reinstall Official Moto Android OS make as official Moto Phone. You need to use along with ST/TW bloatware apps and even if you disable or force stop those apps still you will get annoying notifications "Package failed"etc etc Better go with IOS which are free from bloatware.
oh my god, the closing on that just killed me
