Got this for $99 and currently using it for my basement movie experience. Working great for me. But I am no audiophile...

It's interesting that it says this is a 2.4GHz connection. I've seen older devices that operate on 2.4GHz that are not Wifi (for example, those old wireless Wavebird Gamecube controllers) cause terrible Wifi interference because it's crapping/spewing data all over the 2.4GHz spectrum. Anyone know if this subwoofer is similar?

Many devices use 2.4ghz today so this isn't anything unusual. Wireless headsets, mice, controllers and so on. Even Bluetooth is in 2.4ghz band.

It's possible for there to be interference of course, though probably unlikely to the point it will cause an issue. The only interference I've experienced recently is funnily enough from a Roomba. It wasn't 2.4ghz but rather spamming IR with it's radar. My old receiver remote wouldn't work while it was running.

I saw this for 99.97 at my local costco a month ago. Was tempted to pull the trigger, but reading some reviews decided to skip on the budget woofer.

"wireless + subwoofer" two words that should never go together.

Bluetooth also operates in the 2.4GHz range. I have a wireless sub (Bose Bass Module 500) and it did experience interference. It manifested as pops around bass heavy scenes. Bad design, poorly shielded. Resolved by plugging a cable as I didn't want to bother moving locations. Also, the interference apparently was caused by 5GHz Wi-fi signals

If you have large front speakers with 8+" woofers, then you will not get too much benefit from this subwoofer. If you have smaller speakers, then you'll hear much more of a difference. The sub's lowest response is 29hz, which is not great. I bought this and returned it. Bought a sub that goes down to 20Hz and am much happier even though I paid much more for it.

skip this $150 sub and get the RSL 10e or a used SVS
If you live in a metropolitan area, where there is a thriving used market, then by all means, buy used!!! Amp and speaker tech is like a 100 years old and very reliable.
I just picked up an almost mint SVS PB-1000 Pro for $180! If you look hard enough, you should be able to get a used sub for roughly 25 to 33% of the original price.

Here's an updated and thorough spreadsheet of most subwoofers and their CEA 2010 results, along with other specs:

Well it's not what someone listens to, it's the quality of the sound.
That's the beauty of what we hear, it's completely subjective.
There is no universal better or worse, even though people often try to claim there is.

You then throw in "best bang for your buck" into that question, makes it exponentially much more complicated!
Quality of the sound is a given, but what we listen to is just as important imo. For example, if you listen primarily to classical music, even the necessity for a sub is minimal since that genre contains very few low frequencies to begin with.

However, I agree with you that a person's experience is subjective and that "better" is prerogative. Bang for your buck (and Costco's amazing warranty) definitely makes things more complicated

Would this pair good with the fives?

I disagree, quality is not a given.
The quality of this compared to say a $500+ sub, the quality is not a given(the same) regardless of what you are listening to imo.

Now whether you prefer/need a sub for the content you like to listen to is a completely different topic.

How big the difference is & the worth of it(bang for your buck) is completely personal definition imo.

Thanks. I was hoping we could do that without having to wire and use splitter.
Costco must be happy to see all of them go on a single transaction.
I'm using them both with wire adapters for now. But it takes using two adapters.... (No splitter, but I have 2 sub outputs on my receiver)

That's not how subwoofer pricing works. The RSL 10 has slightly deeper extension so yes it is worth more but it's still not a good sub.

This is truly an entry-level sub and hits down to 29hz like every other cheap sub. You won't know what you're missing until you spend the money on a better klipsch and that's no way to live, truly
This is Slickdeals. I'll live the way I want, thank you very much

The wireless feature is actually what makes this deal compelling at this price. Most subs including the RSL everyone keeps mentioning does not have this feature.

wireless connections are not the preferred connection method due to wireless noise / interference and dropped signal / connectivity issues resulting in no output. It also adds cost to the product.

But if wireless is a necessity for you then adapter kits are available (Inexpensively) that can be used with any other brand.

The inexpensive wireless adapter kits are crap, hence the bad reputation. This sub is already paired to the wifi receiver, and it has no issues with wifi performance out of the box, hence the value.

this sub is $99 and the wireless kit is a low end 2.4ghz unit worth $50. it performs the same as other low end 2.4ghz kits and has more issues than more expensive 5.8ghz units (Less interference)

The Dayton SUB-1200 is another to consider at this price point. It measures surprisingly well. It even has speaker level in/out if you are using with an amp or receiver that doesn't have internal bass mgmt. Cant beat it for $180.

No wireless transmitter included is the downside (if it works) but likely to sound much better than this, considering the reviews.
