Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

Do the free lines get charged tax and telecom fees each month or are they completely free with no fees like the free data for life tablet lines?

That is a plan level setting, TI (inclusive) or TE (exclusive). Check your SOC or look at your current bill. If you are paying fees and taxes now, then you will continue to pay for the free line.

I have not called in to see if our Select Choice family plan is eligible, but we have never been eligible for any of the free line offers in the past so we don't know if they would be taxed or not.
The only free offers we were eligible for were the free data for life tablet lines which end up being totally free with no tax or telecom fees, the only tax and telecom fees we have on our family plan are on our cell phone lines

We don't have TE or TI since our cell phone lines are taxed and our tablet lines are not taxed since the $10 discount for having a family plan per tablet line makes the $10 tablet line be $0 each...tho idk if the reason why we aren't taxed on the tablet lines is because of the $0 cost per tablet line or because they're tablet lines and they never have those fees? We don't have a non-free tablet line to compare

just got my free line, was told i would get an email by tomorrow. s this normal? but rep did not budge, charged me 10 dollars.
I didt even have to ask the rep, she herself told me that she is waiving it off. She till needed the CC to complete the order though which was strange

I am guessing for you there might be a tax on these lines. I used to be on SC 10GB plan and used to pay tax but then it disappeared when we moved to the One plan which had the tax covered by TM

I wonder if this is rep-dependent.

I received the offer in my t-life app and have 3 free lines currently, however the rep said that my existing free lines disqualified me from not qualifying for a 4th free line.
I guess so. Are you on the One plan as well and does your TLife app show the offer?

I'm thinking if the system tags your account as eligible, we can Add the line ourselves and the Promo should kick in.

I have an old sprint line and the rep said that I will have convert to T-mobile New plan in order to get it. My rate plan will also go up.
I have a Sprint Kickstart v2 plan from years ago and had no issue adding this.

There's an activation fee and a SIM card fee. At least that's what the rep told me.

Have the offer in my app and planning to add this - how are people planning to utilize this free line? Saving it for a future phone (kids)? Can you transfer an existing line/number that is not free to it?
