Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

Have 8 lines on magenta 1.0 (3 paid, 5 free) . About to move to the magical 9 line promos.
Should I change to magenta Max or Go5G Plus before I add the 9th line? Or after? Don't want to mess up anything with my free lines

Just chatted with T-mobile on X (twitter) and got the following:
"Good morning, XXXXX, and thank you for reaching back out to T-Mobile today! My name is XXXXX, and I will be picking up where you and XXXXX left off. It's a pleasure to meet you! Initially, anyone with more than 2 free lines would not qualify, but those terms have been updated. I reviewed your account, and you do indeed qualify for the targeted free line offer! Congratulations!"

You missed out that both the linked reddit post and this promo are BYOD free lines. BYOD = Bring Your Own Device. No financing. What you are proposing is financing on the new BYOD free line, and I linked the unpleasant aftermath of someone financing on a BYOD free line. Best of luck, you are playing with fire.

I'm copying what a redditor got from T-Force about ID250259. Read everything, but especially #4.

1) Eligibility: This offer is only available to a specific and limited group of existing customers for adding one new free voice line.

2) Recent Line Cancellations: If you have canceled a voice line within the past 90 days, you need to resume that line before you can add a new free voice line to qualify for this offer.

3) Family Plan Requirement: To qualify for this promotion, you must be on a family plan.

4) Bring Your Own Device: The offer requires you to bring your own device. Device financing will not be available for this new line.

5) Maintaining Lines for One Year: To keep receiving the free or discounted line credit for one year from the promo's date (March 24, 2025), you must maintain the same number of voice lines that were active on your account as of that date, in addition to the newly activated line, including the free or discounted line. For example, if you have 2 active paid voice lines on a family plan on March 24, 2025, you need to activate 1 new voice line to enroll in this promotion and maintain all 3 voice lines for the entire year following March 24, 2025.

6) Post-One Year Requirement: After one year, you must keep at least 2 paid voice lines and the new free or discounted line added under this promotion on a family plan to continue receiving the credit.

7) Credit Application: Credits should begin within your first bill cycle after activation. In some cases, it may take up to 2 bill cycles for the credits to start appearing on your bills. If you don't see a credit on your first bill, you'll see a double credit on your second bill.

8) Forfeiting Credits: If you cancel any voice lines on the account within one year, including the new free or discounted line, you will lose the free or discounted line credits. If you cancel a voice line or move off a family plan and lose your free/discounted line credits, you have 90 days to resume the canceled line or switch back to a family plan. Please note that you will not receive any credits that were missed during this time.

When opening the free line ALL of the above conditions are and will be fulfilled, especially #4.
4) Bring Your Own Device: The offer requires you to bring your own device. Device financing will not be available for this new line.

Of course when you open the free line and BYOD, there's no financing, as there's nothing to finance.
The sentence "Device financing will not be available for this new line." refers to the time of opening and activating the new free line, NOT forever and ever into the future.

Interpreting the sentence to forbid any financing into forever and ever doesn't make sense at all as phones break down, are lost, etc., and a customer may need to purchase another phone from T-Mo and have it financed over a period, maybe 24 months, etc.

It's also NOT in the best interest of T-Mo to forbid financing a new phone on any lines, as T-Mo is in the business of selling phone devices and lines to keep customers with T-Mo and not lose them to Verizon or other cell providers.
It'll be absolutely stupid of T-Mo to forever forbid any financing here.

The free line was OPENED and ACTIVATED with a BYOD phone, and there was NO FINANCING on opening and activating the free line.
It was ONLY DAYS LATER that the $500 trade-in was done as per the T-Mo account showing that the phone device IS ELIGIBLE UPGRADEABLE, with no limitations and the upgrade was done.
See posts # 470 and #468 above.

Moreover, there is NO FREE PHONE FINANCING here as this is just a simple trade-in, NOT FREE PHONE FINANCING, as explained in post # 468 above. T-Mo simply buys the trade-in phone from the customer and it pays the customer over time, and the customer pays all taxes up front.

For the promotional upgrades and better data. Apple TV also with Go5G and I think once I get to 9, might actually be less than I'm paying now with 8

Since we already had 4 lines on my Advantage Unlimited Plus (1 free) / previously a SWAC account so they weren't able add another. They offered to move me to another account to get the line which I declined. But thanks for the tip!
I also had 3 Advantage Unlimited (AU) lines that migrated from a previous SWAC account. They kept me on the AU plans and gave me another Essentials plan line free with a phone call. I am going to check back and see if they can make it another AU plan for free, but waiting on the sim to arrive. For some reason even though I have an e-sim only phone they wanted to mail a physical sim to me. Weird.

Switching to 9 may make sense but switching the actual rate plan may not if you're concerned about your free lines. Is Apple TV+ really worth it?

So I'm on the SWAC plan with 1 paid and 1 free line currently. Got the notification in the app, called and the rep was very knowledgeable, pulled up my account and was surprised. He say you have 2 promos for free lines, would like both, and of course I said sure...... Did his thing for like 10 min. confirmed nothing to change on SWAC plan and we were all set. Just told him I'm driving and couldn't get my CC info., waived $20. Got email after confirming lines, also surprisingly got the price increase text too! Go figure? Asked for 2 physical sims and confirmed everything once again. Agent said it could take up to 4 days to show in the app. Now have 1 paid SWAC and 3 free lines.......
What was the plan for the new line? Essentials, the Advantage Unlimited or the older SWAC program?

Essential One...... Still deciding if I'm going to keep the 2 additional lines as I will need to convert from the AU to the Essential One......

Tried 2 phone agent, 2 twitter agent. I got a no go answer on my plan because I have more than 2+ free lines so I'm not qualify.

But I do have a question I'm on Magenta Max 8 lines with insider discount paying $140ish a month. I have 3 paid and 5 free lines.

Twitter agent did mention that I'm qualify for BOGO but that would put me at a different tier plan.
Magenta MAX 9-12 lines with estimate cost $186 (before equipment or add-ons).

Is this worth to switch to 9-12 lines? Some other said that the magic start at 9-12 lines. I thought I'm already on Magenta Max. A little confuse here. Plan code MPLSFAM. Thanks to all!

Careful. Is one of your free lines a BOGO already? If so you won't qualify for another BOGO.

Edit: at least not without opening another paid line first.

I haven't received my sim card yet but the free line (and the number) already showed up in my tmo account, with the free promo code. Glad they didn't mess with my SC plan.

You got the text after the SIM card was shipped? Thanks
Update: I got the text this morning with the free promo code 250259. Thanks

I didn't see the offer in the TLife app. Called and was told that I have the promo on the acct. Legacy sprint customer to unlimited basic TMo plan. Already have one line free from Sprint in 2020. Happy to get the 2nd line for free.

It did work for me. Paid $10 activation fee. Will need to pay monthly fees for the line on top of it.
Could you clarify which monthly fee you meant?

What will he be paying per month if he's on Max but 3 paid and 6 free?
