Best buy is offering elevated trade ins for Pixel 9 pro and with carrier discount you have to pay only $10. You can also buy an unlocked pixel 8a from target for $299 https://www.target.com/p/google-p...A-91747221 making Pixel 9 pro XL to be $310 in total, $90 less than the recent FP deal here https://slickdeals.net/f/18181615-google-pixel-9-pro-xl-128gb-unlocked-obsidian-ga05900-us-best-buy-carrier-activation-required-399

How to get the deal

1. Go to BB Listing for PIxel 9 pro XL and choose "We'll help to connect this with carrier" for $499.
2. Then click on the trade in on top and select Pixel 8a for $490 refund. Note this might show $190 but during the final checkout it should take out $490.
3. Choose Verizon and then new number (you can also choose to transfer a number but given that you are going to cancel it first thing new number is better).
4. Go through checkout and fill out verizon related info. Note down the account PIN you used as you might need it later during cancellation.
5. You have to pick the phone up in the store as you are trading in. After pickup, setup verizon account with the new phone number.
6. Chat with CS to cancel the account. Activation fee is waived if cancelled within 3 days.
7. The phone is factory unlocked, sealed and ready to be used with any provider.

Questions from the previous threads

1. Is Verizon credit check hard or soft pull?
Soft pull, it will also show that during checkout.

2. Can I use the phone with any provider?
Yeah, these are unlocked phones.

3. When is the line activated i.e. from when does the 3-day counter starts?
This I'm not quite sure of but I'm going to pick my phone soon so I can update but it seems according to some the line is activated right during ordering. If that's the case your counter starts from then. You will still be saving even if you need to pay the activation fee of $35.

4. Does the phone come sealed? How about the verizon SIM
The phone will be sealed with verizon SIM taped onto it.

5. How do we cancel?
The best way is to setup verizon account, you need the phone number which you can get by popping in the SIM that you get from best buy onto any unlocked phone or pixel 9 pro XL and then chat with CS to cancel the line.

6. Is there anything during cancellation that needs attention?
Yes, the CS reps are trained to cancel the line at the billing cycle instead of right away. Be polite but insist on getting the line cancelled right away to avoid activation fee/extra day charges. Note that you are cancelling under buyers remorse policy, this is not mid-cycle cancellation for which you have to pay the whole cycle anyway. Use the term buyers remorse when you talk to CS about bills too.
Also don't talk about the phone you got at a discount. You are just canceling the line here, the device you are using on the line does not matter.

7. Is Verizon going to send me a bill even after cancellation?
In all likelihood, they will. You will have to chat with CS (and again mention the line was cancelled under buyers remorse) to get the charges waived.

8. What are the different activations? Do I need to activate my phone in verizon?
So there are three things that happen from Verizon when you buy a phone from them or best buy. 1. An account is created if you don't have one. 2. A line is created in that account and activated. (if you are porting a number then porting happens first on that line). 3. You put the SIM that comes with the phone in your phone and activate the phone in the network.
You don't need to activate your phone, once the line is created and you picked up the phone you can and cancel the line. You might need to know the phone number of the line for which you might need to pop in the SIM but apart from that you should only be cancelling your line.

9. Can bestbuy charge me back the discount when I cancel the line with Verizon?
No, your transaction with BB is done once you picked up the phone. They can't charge you anything after that. You only remaining task is to cancel the line.

I thought this might be a good deal for getting pixel 9 pro XL for cheap. It's possible these elevated trade in values go away on 03/23. You can also check the trade in values for other phones.

How can you cancel within 3 days if you can't get the phone in your hands in 3 days?
Previously, at least with ATT it's used to be the case that the line is activated just before pickup and hence that won't be a problem. Now some have reported line is activated right when you order which might make you go over 3 days. With ATT you could click on the "Dont recognize this fee" under Actination fee and they would waive it instantly as one time favor even if it's more than 3 day. I don't think we have that option for Verizon either.

I saw ATT bill of $115, which includes the activation fee. I did click on that not recognized link and that's gone from the bill. I did cancel the line 36 hours after ordering and wasn't expecting any bill.

Yeah, they do send a bill afterwards. The chat with them to get rest of it waived

Do mention the line was called under buyer's remorse. It seems to speed things up.

For Verizon it looks like the price bumps up to $599 once you start the process, even though it is showing up at $499 on the home page. Looks like the $499 price is no longer valid. Is anyone else seeing this?

If you buy this in store, do you still get the elevated trade in values? I can't seem to get past Verizon new account sign up online so will have to do this deal in store with an iphone 14 trade in. Will they honor the extra $200 trade in promo?

I activated the phone through visible. And it worked. So I didn't go through Verizon to save the activation fee and cancel hassle.
You're lying, there's only two options and that's at&t and Verizon.

Looks like the list of carriers for trade-ins at Best Buy is fairly limited. Anyone know if they accept Metro devices for trade in?
For Metro devices, you can select T-Mobile. I traded in Metro iPhone 13 last week for same deal under Verizon new number activation.

No, nothing I did wrong. 100% certain my info is correct. It's definitely an issue on their end.

Entered info carefully, twice. I know it isn't a credit issue because scores are well above what is needed to get an account.

It might be an ID verification issue. But I can't do anything about that, my ID is my ID, name is my name, and my address is my address. None of that has changed in 15+ years.

Are they sensitive to email addresses? I made a new email address specifically for Verizon while placing the order. It's different than my Best Buy email address.

EDIT: I chatted with Verizon, who gave me a credit application followed by a number to call. They did some wizardy on the backend, then gave me another number, who then transferred me to yet another department. After talking to 3 different "credit" departments, and submitting my ID and selfie, they were able to clear whatever the issue was and I could submit the order on the BB website. The last phone number they gave was 888-483-7200 (if anyone has a similar issue - always verify phone numbers you are calling are legitimate first).
awesome. thanks that was helpful. For me my name was cutoff in verizon record.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm choosing shipping on original page. Go through all the screens, add my tradein, select my plan. Then at the final checkout it's trying to force me to do store pickup (and there's no option to switch it to shipping).

Same issue here. Quite tempting at 175, less so at 275.

Woops. Just noticed the fine print after trying this a dozen times. *Starting at 499. New line or new account 499, upgrade 599.
