Best buy is offering elevated trade ins for Pixel 9 pro and with carrier discount you have to pay only $10. You can also buy an unlocked pixel 8a from target for $299 https://www.target.com/p/google-p...A-91747221 making Pixel 9 pro XL to be $310 in total, $90 less than the recent FP deal here https://slickdeals.net/f/18181615-google-pixel-9-pro-xl-128gb-unlocked-obsidian-ga05900-us-best-buy-carrier-activation-required-399

How to get the deal

1. Go to BB Listing for PIxel 9 pro XL and choose "We'll help to connect this with carrier" for $499.
2. Then click on the trade in on top and select Pixel 8a for $490 refund. Note this might show $190 but during the final checkout it should take out $490.
3. Choose Verizon and then new number (you can also choose to transfer a number but given that you are going to cancel it first thing new number is better).
4. Go through checkout and fill out verizon related info. Note down the account PIN you used as you might need it later during cancellation.
5. You have to pick the phone up in the store as you are trading in. After pickup, setup verizon account with the new phone number.
6. Chat with CS to cancel the account. Activation fee is waived if cancelled within 3 days.
7. The phone is factory unlocked, sealed and ready to be used with any provider.

Questions from the previous threads

1. Is Verizon credit check hard or soft pull?
Soft pull, it will also show that during checkout.

2. Can I use the phone with any provider?
Yeah, these are unlocked phones.

3. When is the line activated i.e. from when does the 3-day counter starts?
This I'm not quite sure of but I'm going to pick my phone soon so I can update but it seems according to some the line is activated right during ordering. If that's the case your counter starts from then. You will still be saving even if you need to pay the activation fee of $35.

4. Does the phone come sealed? How about the verizon SIM
The phone will be sealed with verizon SIM taped onto it.

5. How do we cancel?
The best way is to setup verizon account, you need the phone number which you can get by popping in the SIM that you get from best buy onto any unlocked phone or pixel 9 pro XL and then chat with CS to cancel the line.

6. Is there anything during cancellation that needs attention?
Yes, the CS reps are trained to cancel the line at the billing cycle instead of right away. Be polite but insist on getting the line cancelled right away to avoid activation fee/extra day charges. Note that you are cancelling under buyers remorse policy, this is not mid-cycle cancellation for which you have to pay the whole cycle anyway. Use the term buyers remorse when you talk to CS about bills too.
Also don't talk about the phone you got at a discount. You are just canceling the line here, the device you are using on the line does not matter.

7. Is Verizon going to send me a bill even after cancellation?
In all likelihood, they will. You will have to chat with CS (and again mention the line was cancelled under buyers remorse) to get the charges waived.

8. What are the different activations? Do I need to activate my phone in verizon?
So there are three things that happen from Verizon when you buy a phone from them or best buy. 1. An account is created if you don't have one. 2. A line is created in that account and activated. (if you are porting a number then porting happens first on that line). 3. You put the SIM that comes with the phone in your phone and activate the phone in the network.
You don't need to activate your phone, once the line is created and you picked up the phone you can and cancel the line. You might need to know the phone number of the line for which you might need to pop in the SIM but apart from that you should only be cancelling your line.

9. Can bestbuy charge me back the discount when I cancel the line with Verizon?
No, your transaction with BB is done once you picked up the phone. They can't charge you anything after that. You only remaining task is to cancel the line.

I thought this might be a good deal for getting pixel 9 pro XL for cheap. It's possible these elevated trade in values go away on 03/23. You can also check the trade in values for other phones.

The trade in value is still working but seems like the $499 price might be gone now? It shows up full price, $1099. If I switch to the hazel color it shows $499 but it isn't available for pickup or shipping. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes can confirm doesn't show the reduced value anymore

Any chance I could just select Pixel 8a as the trade in but really give them the regular Pixel 8 instead? How thoroughly are the workers inspecting the trade in phones?

512gb was "free" with no trade in through Verizon at launch. Activation fee, taxes, and 3 years locked on to service though.

What's the $7.94 charge for? Did you cancel the same day you purchased the phone?
yes cancelled on the same day, though people on other thread have mentioned the 7.94$ charge goes away after few days

I have Verizon Internet. Should I make a new Verizon account to avoid messing with my Internet service? Or should I add it to mine? Obviously looking to not accidentally close my Internet account.

I placed an order on BestBuy and completed Verizon new account process on best buy site but haven't got any Verizon account details via email. Does anyone know how to create the Verizon account once order is placed?

Thanks OP, was able to pick a pixel 8a from target and trade it in for a pixel 9 pro xl at BB, also cancelled VZ service via chat.
Final bill was around ~7.94 for VZ will confirm once the bill gets generated.
Edit: its 7.97$

Looks like they adjusted the pricing of the 128gb model ($1099). Only the 256gb model is at the promotional price now ($599).

Ok the does my billing start after I pick up the number and activate? When can I ideally cancel the plan and avoid activation fee?

Did this deal last week when it was 399 for 128 and 449 for 256gb. I regret not getting the 256gb version. Only have about 40gb free for photos and videos.

Still not bad for $87 after taxes, fees, a tempered glass screen protector, and trading in an old free iphone 12 i had lying around. its a nice backup phone to rock along side my pixel 9, and s25 ultra and will be a good trade in option down the line.
