Sorry for my ignorance, are you guys discussing about how to meet the $5000 spend requirement? You could withdraw $5000 after opening this account to meet the spend requirement? That'd be awesome and easy.
Not talking about cash advances, which can't be used to hit the $5000.
Talking about using pay1040.com to pay taxes (for a 1.75% fee), which may be a good move for those with a big tax bill this year or quarterly estimates to pay.
BeigeIdea523 is looking at it one way - if you spend $5000 on taxes, that gets $50 cash back and costs $87.50 in fees, for a $37.50 cost. Not bad if it also gets you the $1k SUB.
I look at it a different way, since I was going to pay by credit card anyway. I compare my card, which pays 2.625% to this card, that pays 1%, a difference of 1.625%. So, the "real cost" to me (in comparison to what I would have done without this deal) is $5000*.01625, or $81.25. Worth it for me to get the $1k SUB.
But that's just different ways of looking at the exact same thing.
Any idea how long will this offer be valid at branches? I am expecting some expenses in Jun/Jul and ideally wanted to cover those months during 3-month 5K spend period.
I opened chase sapphire preferred card in 2017 and then after 1 year usage, I have downgraded it to chase sapphire card and its been active till date. Can i apply for the sapphire preferred card now with existing Chase Sapphire card on my profile ?
I opened chase sapphire preferred card 5 years back and then after 1 year usage downgraded it to chase sapphire card. Can i apply for the sapphire preferred card now ? Or both sapphire and sapphire preferred as same card?
If it has been 48 months since you received the sign up bonus (note: not the same as your application/approval date), then you should be eligible.

check me on flyer talk or doctor of credit or similar, but, yes, you can't have it now with the no AF regular Sapphire, but you can call, convert it to Freedom, wait for some time and be able to do it
My main card is BofA unlimited cash with platinum rewards, 2.625% cash back, but I have to keep $100k in my IRA with Merrill for the bonus Cashback, or it's 1.5%.
US Bank has a similar card that pays 4%, but I don't like that their closest branch is 100 miles away.

Thank you! After converting to Freedom, waiting for 1 week is enough ? Or need to wait for long ?

$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.
Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.
Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.
Any 0% apr period on this?
Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.

On referral, Can I refer myself from Chase Freedom to this Sapphire?

You can't refer yourself and you can only refer from a Sapphire card.
