PSA: Looks like total wireless changed the policy from 60 days after activation to 60 days of active service. This went in to effect April 1st 2025.

Good phone and good deal.

The a35 is good, and is likely the last of the "good" Samsung a-series phones with an SD slot. The a36 and a56 don't have them.

I got the previous (nearly identical) a54 deal and was very happy with it. The two phones are architecturally almost identical (same processors and ram). It's not a speed demon, but is fast enough to do all "normal" stuff, like social media, email, phone, etc... without any real performance problems. Maybe a gamer would be disappointed with it, and it will be getting OneUI 7 very, very soon.

Wow.

Porting in a number is a hassle -- if you don't already have a phone number.

The whole ID verification is just...how do the kids say it nowadays...."totes wack".

No idea how they're storing your image and credentials -- or who has access to them -- or what the process is for them to expunge that data -- or who is ensuring they're following best practices.

Oh who am I kidding, your DL and image are being sold to the highest bidder. We all know that.

Yes. I paid the 2nd month payment of $85 for 2 phones on 14th April, and the phone was automatically unlocked on the 15th.
Does it means TW unlocked your phone on day 31st before 60 days but right after second month service payment?

Why 85 for 2 lines? Should come to 66 and change with multiline discount.

Thats good news at least if phones are triggered into unlocking after getting the second month payment, then your free to shift carriers or sell.

When I activate the phone do I have to port in the number I used when I bought it? Or I can just get a new number and not worrying about porting? Will that impact the unlock later? Anyone can share the experience? Thanks.

When you activate the line you don't have to use the number to Port from when you placedthe order but the terms of the promotion says with Port from outside carrier so I would not flirt with the idea of doing anything other than porting in from outside carrier. GV numbers cost only $3 to Port

Total Wireless called and said the unlock policy that is current at the time of the unlock request is the one they use. I asked to unlock last week, so they got me, Had to take the $10 voice/text only plan for a month. So the deal is now costing $65 to unlock, still not bad as I don't need the data on this phone. It will be on wifi most of the time anyway.

They must follow unlock policy and service agreements (officially posted on their website) at the day/time when you purchased their product. Changing anything on the fly after some period of time and requesting extra $ just dumb and highly illegal.
I've created PDF of everything including unlock policy on March 27 (day when I placed the order) . Not going to pay for second month, after 60 days I'll file FCC complaint and write letter to TW CEO.
Their sh..ty phone unlocking process will be handled by CEO office, and I know it will be quick.., I promise you that. Not a money just a principle.

Hello Michael Duncan., can you hear me now?

You filed today and called you the same day. That was quick. Sucks you had to pay an extra $10.

Did they unlock immediately after paying the $10 or do you have to wait another month?

You don't have to but whatever floats your boat. Requesting second month payment against their own unlock policy when if was in place after order been placed.

Unlock will be after the next 30 days of service. It is ok with me as this is just an emergency phone, on wifi all day and I use Google Voice for all calls.

HAHAHA. Just filed a complaint with the FCC as well. I tried calling the Unlock department and it made me even more stubborn to file an FCC complaint. The representative was rude in my opinion and he had the audacity to tell me that customers like myself are taking advantage of Total Wireless. A little back and forth and informed him that you updated the unlock policy after I purchased the phone. The rep says TW has a right to change anytime. The rep went on to question why I would buy the phone and leave TW. The rep asked me if I knew how much a brand new Samsung A35 would cost. Crazy. I filed a dispute with my credit card and called the TW they had on file. The rep was nice but couldn't help me get a refund. The rep just transferred me to the Unlock department again and they still will not unlock
You are waving a red flag and giving Verizon/Total a reason to consider shutting down the 60 day unlock. Going to battle when a $10 talk and text plan is available to get your phone unlocked is pushing the envelope. I get they changed the 60 days to include 60 days of service. I would not be surprised to see the 60 day unlock move to a 180 day unlock as they are taking a big hit with not covering their cost of a phone.

Don't spread bs here . They can't move from 60 days to 180 without FCC approval otherwise most would enforce unlock policy anywhere from 12 month to never by now..
