For those wondering, this is in the Dreamcast/N64/PSP performance class.
This isn't really a great deal at all. This unit has been at this price range on average. I noticed this store is purposely bumping up the price to make you think $15 off is a deal. For example their TrimUi Brick is over priced as well compared to other stores. Still decent for whoever wants it, but just wanted everyone to know that the TrimUi Brick has a MUCH more premium build and feel with same performance. The Brick's software performance is probably better due to all the amazing new OS' that recently launched for this beautiful unit. The two don't feel like they're made from the same company, but they are.
This is probably the best price you'll be able to get, for a long time. Basically, any deal on Aliexpress is actually an awesome deal, looking at the future.

On top of the major tariff headlines, many people may have missed the datail about the "De Minimis" exemption which applies to all purchases from Aliexpress - now ending in a few weeks. I'm sure Aliexpress will find a way to reduce the cost from this (US distribution warehouses, other supply chain adjustments?), but the fee is $25 minimum per item! Whatever you're thinking about buying on this site should be purchased ASAP. You may not be able to get these prices again after this month. Take advantage while you can, IMO.

Anbernic, Powkiddy, and Miyoo are all running various promotions also, and coupon codes are available. You can use "newusoff10" for $10 off on orders over $40, just use a new email address. There is also a $6 off $59 coupon. Basically, you can get any of these handhelds for around $50 right now. Just make sure you're buying from a reputable seller. (none of these codes will stack with the Trimui deal, it has a better coupon)

If you're new to this (as I was a few months ago) I recommend checking out "Retro Game Corps". He has really great videos on Youtube, and a website with written guides and reviews. A serious wealth of knowledge. Seems to be unbiased in general, not a paid sponsor. His review on this one:

Hi staff, if it can't be searched for reference it might as well be deleted because it has no more useful applications.

Hmm, it appears something else could be going on (as I'm 100% certain it was never deleted or hidden from search by SD). If/when you may happen to have time to check, if you search TrimUI Smart Pro in the search box (either in the app or on the website), does the ~$38 thread I linked to in the previous post not turn up in the search results on your end?

I was able to find it both logged in and logged out when using that search term. I suspect that it's possible your settings could possibly be set so that the Deal Talk subforum is not included when using the search tool. Note the screenshot featuring the two red arrows below (it's a pic of the website in 'Classic' mode). On the left-hand side, you can see that subforums can be individually checked to on or off. If Deal Talk is set to off in your personal settings, that could exclude it from search results on your side. Thanks!

EDIT: For example, if you search R36S, you should see all of the old expired threads for that (there are no active threads for it currently). If the old R36S threads show up in the search results for you, then that means the Deal Talk forum visibility is properly set to on in your settings. The other possibility is that you could have clicked 'ignore' on the ~$38 TrimUI Smart Pro thread by mistake; which would hide it altogether (until you go to the Ignored Threads tab on your profile here and 'un-ignore' the thread by clicking Delete on it). Clicking ignore on a thread is only possible on the website (not the app) afaik.

I have one, it's ok, cannot play demanding PSP games. It can play N64 reasonably well. Also, this was never $231 lol, it's normally about $55 on Aliexpress and has been at that price point for like a year. When it was new I think it sold for $90. It's a low tier budget handheld. It's well built and feels premium but it has some MAJOR design flaws, for 1 the triggers are tiny and hard to press, and the sticks are also extremely small and inset so they have virtually no range. The screen on it is really nice but it's a widescreen which would be perfect IF the device was able to play the PSP games that would use the wide screen, for all the other retro systems the games will have huge bezels on both sides or have to be stretched way out. It is pretty cool in tate mode where you hold it sideways to play like vertical shmups but it's really uncomfortable to hold when playing in tate mode. I definitely wouldn't buy this in 2025. There are much better options. For the same Price you can get a RG40XX-H which is roughly the same speed and can play the same systems but has much better triggers and sticks. The screen on the 40xx is also a very saturated colorful screen like the TSP but it's got a 4-3 aspect ratio so it's not as stretched out as the TSP. Honestly your best bet if you're looking for a handheld retro player right now would be something like a RG406-H which runs $150ish, it's capable of gamecube, ps2, psp, and has real true analog sticks. Or even better the Retroid Pocket 5 which goes for $220. It's got a snapdragon 865 chip capable of emulating even some switch games on top of everything else. You really will get what you pay for. But if you don't care about the more modern systems go with the RG40XX-H or the RG35XX-H, or even the RG35XXSP which is a clamshell design like the gameboy advance SP, but it does not have sticks so you're limited to systems that don't require sticks. If you're brand new to handhelds and just want to try one out but don't want to spend a lot of money the R36S sells for like $20-$35 depending on the sale and if it's the 64gb version or the 128Gb version. The 128GB version which is on average about $32 has over 21,000 games pre-loaded, including all the nintendo titles which most of the other devices leave off and you would have to download them and put them on the sd card yourself (cause they're worried about nintendo suing them). The R36S can play N64 and even many dreamcast games. For $32 bucks you can't beat it. If you spend $40-$45 you can get the BatleXP G350 which has better face buttons, d-pad, and shoulder buttons, but it only comes with 4k games.

Hi I'm on the app and there isn't any settings to filter any search results, I used to be able to see all the past deals but recently it doesn't show up.

I have the same problem. Although I was able to snag the $38 deal I am not able to see that expired deal when I search with terms like "retro handheld" and "trimui smart". Not sure what has changed but I don't see any of the expired deals. For example I cannot see the expired deal for RG406H at $130.

Just to add validity here - Russ is probably the #1 streamer specifically in this space. He often gets review units from manufacturers prior to release specifically for his feedback. He calls out the bad stuff, for sure. He often gets a production unit as well and seems to make a follow up video to comment on any changes that were made to reassess his initial review. His guides are also cream of the crop - some YouTube people seem to just reference his instead of making their own because they are that good. He has a website where he keeps them up to date. If a video gets too old, he updates it as well.

Unlike a lot of reviewers as well, he gives his feelings as well as recognition if a device isn't for his preferences, but very clearly still quality. I know a lot of people review vertical handhelds and the Miyoo Mini is super popular. We had OG game boys growing up - no thank you from me with that form factor in 2025. Totally appreciate honest reviewers that recognize their preferences and uses are not universal.

I may have a fix Smilie If you don't mind, could you click on your profile pic in the app, then click on the Settings icon (cog) in the top-right corner, and check if 'Show Expired Deals on Frontpage' is set to On, please? If it's off, turn it on, close the app and re-open it, then try searching for (example) TrimUI Smart Pro or RG 406H (ensure that there is a space between RG and 406H, the search tool requires an exact match).

If 'Show Expired Deals on Frontpage' is already on or doesn't work when you turn it on, try this: search for (as an example) TrimUI Smart Pro in the search box. Click on Filter (next to Sort), then click 'Forums', then click 'All' or 'Discussion Forums'. That should turn up all results, including expired threads. It used to do this automatically; so I'm not sure what may have changed, perhaps with the latest update (?). It seems to be the Android app that's affected, because seeing expired threads on the iOS version of the app is working without having to tinker with any of the settings (I tried both Android and iOS). I'll pass this along to the dev team as a heads up Smilie Thanks!

I'm over here hoping for a 7-in screen.

Closest you are getting is Powkiddy X55, nothing bigger until you get to top-tier emulation like the Odin/Refurb Steam Deck/ROG Ally. You trade a bit of build for a more universal stick placement, better ergonomics, larger triggers, and WiFi that can stream PC games under 10ms at 720p.

No, direct purchases are not and have not been subject to tariffs. That will change in May, but right now there are no tariffs on anything under $800 on Aliexpress.
Sure but that does not mean that prices do not change before. Companies anticipate the reduction in sales that will hit next month and try to increase the price now to help offset the fact that their sales to the US will tank then. This is not uncommon. You can see plenty of companies making all sorts of moves before tariffs such as shifting manufacturing locations, price changes, canceling or delaying releases of items that could be impacted for potential price adjustment, and so on.

Good deal for what it is, however I don't recommend this device to everyone. There are many others.
The widescreen seems appealing but almost none of the systems this device is capable of take advantage of the wide screen. So for most content you'll just have an unnecessarily large device with letterboxing.
It's great for portmaster titles, but this device isn't compatible with a number of important portmaster titles (see the portmaster site for the list).
It also doesn't have L3 and R3 buttons which many competing devices have.
The aftermarket firmware options also aren't great (in my opinion). Crossmix is decent though.
All that said, this is a well made device and looks nice and professional and has decent performance.

I've used these along with MANY MANY other handheld emulators. This device is pretty good and worth this price. BUT... the reviewers on YouTube really overhype it. It's good yes, but not nearly as premium as they make it out to be.

It's more like a $65 device sold for 40-50. It's not a $100+ type of device. I like it but you can tell it's a cheaper one. Not a deal breaker though for $50

I thought I would post a more quantitative comparison of handheld capabilities. Looking at the chart, on the left is the capability of the TrimUI Smart Pro. On the right is the capability of the recently posted R36H handheld.

Not sure how much that 27% less 'horsepower' number will impact playability of some of the games that are on the verge of playability.... Anyone?

This will play ports better and quite a bit more n64 than the r36h. It doesn't get you into another tier of gaming but it's better within the same tier. Think another 20-30% of n64 titles, plus better buttons, and wifi which opens you up to portmaster and retro achievements.

No, they would rather clear out inventory on a product that is about to be unsellable.
Raising prices will make them sell less, and get stuck with worthless inventory.
