You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Correct me if I'm wrong you're only advising using additional email credit cards in the event of declined orders? I have one active A35 line active on my TW, I'd like to order two more iPhones or razors on my same account. I planned on ordering later today both in the same order

I don't have chase or citi. Do you still recommend I order two phones one at a time or can I order two in the same order? I plan to order them both on the same account.
You can do two or one, no difference. just be ready to get rejected on your first complete check out cause the credit card company will call/text/email you for potential fraud. after you verify with them you'll be able to check out. happened 3 out of my 5 orders.

i just stay on the order screen and place order (Decline), respond to credit text saying not fraud, and hit place order again and it went thru.

I'm assuming Visible numbers won't work for port in since it's a Verizon owned brand?
Verizon, Total or Straight Talk numbers will not work. All owned by the same company.

I'm in for one.

I've been using a work phone as my personal for about 3 years, but the office recently decided the tax ramifications were too much to deal with and gave us 2 months to stop all personal use of work phones. I've batted around every combination of the 16 (Xfinity) and 16e (Visible, Total) deals, used 12/13/mini on US Mobile, Boost, Xfinity, etc. My only real requirement was MagSafe and not Plus/Max size (both for compatibility with the MagSafe charger in my car).

After the 3 months are up, I'll probably move to US Mobile or switch my home internet to the $30/mo 400mbps plan on Xfinity and use their free 1-year mobile line offer. I actually ascribe a bit of value to the free Disney+ Premium included with Total, but not enough to keep me with them past the included 3 months (but it will be nice, Disney+ has the absolute worst and most obtrusive ads, plus the ad plan doesn't include Dolby Atmos audio).
Interesting, so for the 3rd month you can port over to USM because it is unlocked, but towards the end of the term since the phone is active?

Wow, what a world we live in....where we need to verify our identity to a third party (who resells our ID info) just to buy something. Back in my day, we only needed money to buy something.
The phone is free. Why would a company give a person a free older iphone but require 3 months service and ID verification? It is very simple. The 3 months service helps offset the free phone. The ID verification? They don't want resellers to buy a ton of them and sell them on eBay. The future customers that they want are long time profitable customers. If a person doesn't want 3 months service requirements and ID verification, they can buy an unlocked Apple iPhone from the Apple website but it will be far more overpriced and be a later model.

TW accepted my Vis number. Still hasn't shipped which means another months service so my donor number doesn't expire. They know what they're doing in the Verizon Value Family.

No need to hope its in their terms of service as long as you pay for the 2 months
Thanks for that tidbit of info. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and bought myself one... Boost Mobile currently has a better price on this phone, but their network unlock policy requires that the phone you buy from them be on their network for a whole year.

Yeah... I'll use the included 3 months and, a few days before they're up, port out to USM or Xfinity.

Mine arrived, was able to activate using google voice number (cost $3 to google to "unlock") within seconds.
edit: spoke too soon on activation; was able to make calls, send texts, and get online, however unable to receive calls -- they said this may take up-to 4 days which is the final stage of activiation.

Does anyone know if you need to officially cancel the totalwireless plan if you don't want it anymore after the unlock?
I just want the phone, so I plan to sit on it and in 60 days, and then use the phone with my other non-totalwireless account phone number after unlocked.
