  • June 16: I bought a Tello number with a $5 plan to port it out and get this deal.
  • June 16: I completed my purchase.
  • June 20: My order arrived and I tried to port from Tello, but surprise — I still couldn't get the information needed to complete the port out.
  • June 20: I purchased a number from NumberBarn and started the porting process. I had read that it usually takes around 7 days, but to my surprise, the porting was completed in aprox 10 mins.

You're 100% right except for bigger sensors on the cameras, auto focus on the front facing camera, crash detection, emergency satellite usage for free. And of course, a year longer support.

when you receive the phone can you change the number (check eligibility test) that you had provided at the time of purchasing?

I would imagine so because they ask for your port in number again during the activation process, as well as the provider (just choose "Other" if yours is not listed). I guess you run the risk of the different number not being supported for whatever reason, though.

Just wanted to give a tip here in case someone ran into the same issue with the phone not showing "no sim restrictions" after 2 months of paid service. Called the unlocked department and was told that on their end it was showing unlocked. I've tried to restart the device multiple times but still says "sim locked". So I decided to do a full reset. After this the phone now shows "no sim restrictions."

I hope this might help someone out.

Just signed up for 1 but wondering when I can sign up for the second one? Should I wait until receiving the first one and activating/porting it successfully before getting the second line?

Just to confirm…

This doesn't require activation and port-in within a time limit does it?

I can let it sit in my drawer for 3 months while my mint plan expires and then turn on and port in my number from mint at that point right?
