Unlocked mine yesterday (day 60).
My 60th day is coming up tomorrow. Was it automatic? Did you have to chat with CSR to request the phone to be unlocked?

I plan to buy the phone to send to a family member overseas. Is the 60 day unlock something that is sent to the phone or is it like an internal timer once you activate the phone? If I need to I can keep the phone locally until the 60 days passes to confirm it is unlocked. But it would be nice to send it by air immediately.
You must activate the device and it will automatically unlock after 60 days. I wouldn't take it out of country until after it unlocks. It worthless to your relative until after it unlocks.

i remember many people from previous deals confirmed the device gets unlocked even if you are in different country with no Verizon tower/service till you can connect to internet like via wifi. Can someone confirm this please?

But what if it doesn't automatically unlock?
I also recommend waiting till it's officially unlocked before sending it to a different country. There are no guarantees with TW, lots of glitches in their system.

I agree it's safest to wait, but in some scenario where you bought the phone for someone overseas, the opportunity to send it overseas is sometimes time critical. I had same thing happening with Iphone 12 where it unlocked just after the trip. Now more than a year has passed and I have one TW unlocked iphone 13 in hand and another Metro iphone 13 which will again unlock a couple of weeks after next trip!

Thanks for confirming. If you don't mind, can you confirm it was not in a country nearby to US like Canada?

As long as it's activated in the US you're probably safe to take it overseas. "The carrier updates the IMEI Database at 60 days: The carrier updates their database to reflect that the iPhone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is now unlocked.Remote Unlocking: The unlocking process is typically done remotely. The carrier sends an unlock command to Apple's servers, which then updates the device's status in their system.Confirmation: After the unlock command is processed, the iPhone will need to connect to the internet (via Wi-Fi or cellular data) to receive the update. Once it does, the device will be unlocked, allowing it to accept SIM cards from other carriers."It's still a bit of a gamble.

Ive taken my razor from the previous out of the country and brought it back. Nothing happened, everything kept working just fine. 60 days after activation the phone became unlocked automatically. Now the phone is outside the country on a plan out there.

did you get a pin code or activation card other than the sim card? I received mine today and spent five hours with three agents and neither could activate it because they didn't ship me a plan card, just a sim card. Their solution was for me to buy another plan and lose the 3 months I've already paid for. I'm trying to get a refund through them since, if I were to go the PayPal refund route, the soonest they can deal with the issue is mid December.

I tried calling that number and I was on hold for over half an hour. An agent finally picked up but wasn't from Total Wireless, he was from Simple Mobile. He told me it's a sister company and couldn't activate it for me. He forwarded to what he claimed was a TW agent, after 20 min. Someone from Tracfone picked up and same story, couldn't activate it because he wasn't from TW. I gave up on the phone system and contacted them through chat instead.

Call Tracfone corporate office in Miami. They will take care of it.
