Good deal. I don't own many Ryobi tools, but this mower will work just fine for a majority of people.

I bought the 20" for $230 last week. https://slickdeals.net/f/18236968-at-certain-locations-ryobi-40v-hp-brushless-20-in-cordless-battery-walk-behind-push-lawn-mower-with-6-0-ah-battery-and-charger-ry401170-230

If you have a larger than avg front and backyard. That battery won't last you. Might need another one if you don't mind waiting for a charge

Yeah, they claim 45 minutes subject to conditions. However, probably few people newly buying into the 40V system now so they will already have some batteries.

Can you use a 40v 6mah battery vs a 40v 5mah?

I bought this from the Walmart special they had for 250. It's a good mower for what it is electric and good enough for the average user.
Saves a headache of dealing with a gas engine that doesn't prime after the cold winter then having to deal with the maintenance of oil change with a standard gas mower and the price is definitely a good point .

My have 3500 sq ft of lawn between my front and back lawn and this mower doesn't make it with a 4ah and 2ah. Additionally this machine really struggles with damp grass and shuts off if there is anything other than light dew on your lawn. Mowing in the evening is almost always required for me.

I've had a similar experience as above post, but still prefer it over gas for majority of mowing. I bought a generic 6a to go w the 5a it came with and can usually get most of the lawn (~5000 sq ft) done with them. Still have gas mower for scalping. If I wait too long, I have to mow a little bit with this then mow again to preferred height. It gets bogged and shuts off with tall thick or wet grass.

ditto both of you. @NuttRN, can you recommend generic battery you got. I got one myself off amazon or ebay few years ago and it was crap, could barely start the mower and stopped with attempt to cut actual grass, i had to send it back.

I for sure still prefer battery powered. I've owned my greenworks 40v set of trimmer, blower, mower, hedger, and chainsaw for about 7 years now and they're still going strong. I've used my dad's 60v craftsman on my lawn and it goes through damp grass like nothing. I knew I needed 60/80v within a month or two of using this mower but those were much more expensive. May upgrade soon.

I think the best way to get additional batteries is by getting them with another tool. I would look at string trimmer and blowers. I never did the generic route
