I bought the 20" for $230 last week. https://slickdeals.net/f/18236968-at-certain-locations-ryobi-40v-hp-brushless-20-in-cordless-battery-walk-behind-push-lawn-mower-with-6-0-ah-battery-and-charger-ry401170-230
Yeah, they claim 45 minutes subject to conditions. However, probably few people newly buying into the 40V system now so they will already have some batteries.
Saves a headache of dealing with a gas engine that doesn't prime after the cold winter then having to deal with the maintenance of oil change with a standard gas mower and the price is definitely a good point .

I've had a similar experience as above post, but still prefer it over gas for majority of mowing. I bought a generic 6a to go w the 5a it came with and can usually get most of the lawn (~5000 sq ft) done with them. Still have gas mower for scalping. If I wait too long, I have to mow a little bit with this then mow again to preferred height. It gets bogged and shuts off with tall thick or wet grass.
I think the best way to get additional batteries is by getting them with another tool. I would look at string trimmer and blowers. I never did the generic route
