edit: received mine, they were EXOS. Model number st18000nm000j-2tv103. Same model number and firmware as the internal EXOS I purchased last year.
I shucked mine open with a box cutter, a metal cell phone spudger and a table fork. Use the box cutter to eventually make a gap about 1 inch long, then the spudger to widen the gap for the fork. Jam the fork in there carefully using the spudger at the same time like a shoe horn. Once the tines of the fork are halfway in or more, just use the fork to pop the entire top off in one motion. It pops right off first try. You will also need a small screwdriver set, I reinstalled 2 of the 3 small screws.
EDIT: Removed the drive from the enclosure pretty easily (see YT video linked a few posts above; thank you for that). The little plastic clips DO break off pretty easily (can't tell if by design or whatever), so if you plan to re-use the enclosure at some point, pry carefully, etc.
