I bought these April 3rd, the last time they were on SD and they still haven't shipped. Amazon says they will ship on Saturday. I'm skeptical of their delivery dates.

Noise cancelling does not protect your hearing. What it does (related to hearing protection) is allow you to filter out other sounds so that you can lower the volume of the thing you want to hear. Noise cancellation interferes with environmental sound waves by creating oppositional waves. A more accurate term might be noise interfering, not cancelling.
