Anyone have any experience with this brand and/or dash cam? I'm looking for a dash cam for my father's older car.
We bought it for our son a couple of weeks ago. He's not great with technology, but he was able to install it quickly. He said it was ready to go and started recording when it turned on. I can't speak to video quality yet, because we haven't pulled any off. But setup is easy.

Any directions on how to install the wiring discretely? The manual doesn't offer much direction. Should I just look on youtube?
You should definitely check out Youtube. It is alot easier to watch someone pop off trim panels on Youtube than try to describe it here. You need to pay particular attention to routing wires anywhere there is an airbag or you could interfere with proper inflation.

I bought two of these about 2 months ago, and I am starting to have issues with them. They will for some reason, start, stop, and start recording constantly. Also, they get hot. If you leave your key turn on, it will drain your battery in 5 mins. They were cheap so I thought I would try it, but I wouldn't buy it again.
4K Front is Good, 1080P Rear is no good. there is 2.5K Rear out there for almost same $
Either option for this price is likely not a good product. 1080p is fine for rear if the camera is a good one.
I'd pay more for something like Viofo a129 plus duo or a thinkware product.
You can get no name dash cams like this for $48 or less every day on temu or ali express.
At minimum, if you are getting front and rear dash cams and are going to hardwire them. If you do get a cheap one, get cabling/wiring that will work with the higher end dash cams as well so when your cheap one breaks or you realize $48 doesn't get you a very good product, you can just swap out the cameras alone instead of redoing all the wiring.

This does not drain your battery in 5 minutes. Headlights won't drain a good standing battery in 5 minutes. You're either lying or have other issues at play that have nothing to with this product.

I installed per the instructions; after installing it I turned on the radio to clean up, then went to start it and was dead. My battery is about 6 months old and have listen to the radio before and no issue. It could be their voltage regulator wiring kit is not working correctly. lying, lol. No lying here dude.

Has anyone had personal experience with this? Battery? Video quality? App utilization?

Highly depends on the vehicle.
If your rear view mirror has power going to it, you can tap it right there for the cleanest install.
Otherwise, you're going through the trim pieces and headliner.
