This does work with homebase 3 after an update if anyone is curious. $60 was the cheapest it was. And it's new normal sale price is $65. At least on Amazon anyway.

This would limit you to angles that have good solar incidence where you are mounting it; definitely no north facing areas in northern hemisphere, maybe east or west depending on how much sun the spot gets and how much energy this uses

Yes it does

Although oddly you do lose the ability to "restart" the device once hooked up. You can still turn it on and off with the toggle. But the restart option is gone compared to stand alone wifi. Oh and it doesn't accurately report its solar charging history in the app dashboard anymore.

Also side tangent / issue. They REALLY need to add the ability to manually control the 2.4ghz wifi channel that Homebase 3 uses. It BOMBARDS the 2.4ghz on performance mode and will cause major issues there whenever anything is detected. Standard mode it's very limited range. A very simple ui fix would solve this so you can space your main wifi and the home base to different channels instead of it randomly hopping around to 1, 3, 7, 11 etc. I almost got rid of it because my work video calls would sound like an Intl call from the 60s, skipping audio, and video would stop. It also lead to issues trying to view eufy video content itself even though the homebase is hard wired in my setup. (and my main router, an expensive pro level Asus 88, is plenty far enough away.)

Does the video get stored on the HB3? If so, does it get downgraded to 1080p only?

Yes it stored on HB3 as far as I can tell. And I just downloaded a clip looks like the resolution is 2304x1296 so no downgrade? I have noticed the event/random thumbnails get updated to slightly pixelated versions in the main screen on the app with those. But once opened it is as normal.

It also uses the bionic Ai stuff so faces can get recognized etc. Which it didn't have before.

Another aside you do lose access to previous clips when swapping it from wifi to homebase.

Thanks for the response! My 2k pan and tilt recordings get downgraded to 1080p if connected to my HB3 and was such a disappointment, but I'll download a clip and double check.

No problem!
Oh that's too bad. Yeah it seems it's getting 2k for these 15 fps. Yeah now that you said that it looks like they do that when 24/7 recording is enabled. Seems like they could just change to 2k for events only or something at least...the solar wall cams can't even do 24/7 as far as I know.

See https://www.reddit.com/r/EufyCam/...t/l5u00qq/ for an annoying trick to let you pick the channel (tl;dr use a second router to create a decoy wifi network on the correct channel to connect HB3 to, HB3 will use that channel for its own Eufy network, then plug HB3 into your main router). But you're right, it's terrible that they don't let you pick. I'm similarly frustrated that TP-Link Decos, which are great otherwise, don't let you choose a channel.

This is the only Eufy product I wasn't happy with. The solar panel died way too soon

We have two of the s120s and they're still going strong. One from 2 years ago, another bought last year.
