Stern warning to fellow Sders.

8bitdo products are by far the most aggressively shilled products I have ever seen in my entire life of dealhunting. That is a big statement to make, but holy jesus this company is the worst
This company pays big bucks then sells you products that though feel high quality, constantly lag/disconnect. You contact them for warranty, they demand you pay return shipping, then shipping back. That's assuming they don't string you along for months upon months of useless technical steps that you've already taken hoping you forget and your warranty runs out.

Avoid 8bitdo ultimate controllers like the plague.

They're no longer shipping to the US

So likely liquidating before they stop all business in the US.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank asuka

Woot Xbox 8bitdo has Hall Effect joysticks for just $5 more. Makes no sense to buy this when you get a controller that will last effectively until it shatters for $5 more.

Numerous reports are CCP had retailers mass overflow their warehouses to then grandstand a halt to shipments.

This is just positioning and strategy.

Even Amazon did a clearance sale of junk to make room in their fulfillment.

I been using the last version of their ultimate controller. And honestly I have been having a blast. It even worked well on linux. I have never returned any devices to them, so I cannot comment on that just yet.

I have the 8bitdo ultimate wireless that comes with the charging dock and then I also have a wired one

The charging dock one of the pins got bent, sent a pic of it to them, they asked for an address and about a month later I got a charging dock replacement, they did not ask for shipping charges or anything just an address, proof of receipt, and pic of the bent pic. Not sure what sort of issues you got with them but I did not have any issues with them mrmochi

And I have not had these disconnects/lags with my controller that you speak of, to each their own but I have not had any issues with the controller since last year October

I have only had good experiences with the 8bitdo products for years. I have the SN30 Pro, and the Pro 2. Both have been consistently good for me. I have never dealt with their customer service, but have been more than satisfied with their products thus far. I guess YMMV.

No comment on the controller itself as I do not have one, but the price has been $20 for over half a year according to camelcamelcamel:

Not sure why the slickdeal popped up now.
edit: Bah, I duplicated the image! I don't see a way to remove it or this comment...

I have an Ultimate C and an Ultimate 2 (the new one). The Ultimate C is actually poor quality, while the Ultimate 2 is good quality, and it's not true that all 8BitDo products are high quality, the price reflects the quality.
The Ultimate C R2 spring snapped off within a month. I opened it and popped the spring back on and it fixed it, but man that thing is flimsy.

If you game constantly, pay for factory Microsoft controllers. Cheap peripherals have been a trap since the NES days - possibly longer.
For casual gaming, or having spares for when gaming occasionally with friends, 8bitdo has been solid for me. Can't vouch for this exact controller - I have an Ultimate and Ultimate 2, in pink and purple because girl dad. But they still work a year later like they just came out of the box.
Seems like a solid deal at the $20 price point. But if you are putting hours a day on it, it's probably worth investing upfront in a factory controller.

Have 4 of there controllers and their keyboard and have had the opposite experience, no issues to speak of. I had purchased other controllers at similar prices previously and the quality was night and day. Now are they the best you can get? probably not, but they've fit my need and budget great.
Edit: I have not owned this controller, but replying tot he post that had nothing to do with this specific controller

Tbh I like my Ultimate Wireless Pro better than the official Xbox controller. I think the quality is pretty much on par, unless you really like the ergonomics of the Xbox controller specifically. However, you get a built-in rechargeable battery, a charging dock, and two integrated back paddles, all for less. That was crazy to me. Before I bought this I had an Elite controller which I paid 3x the price for, but I was disappointed in the quality as parts started to wear and come off over time. Just because it's factory does not mean it's better. I've had my Ultimate controller for over a year now and it still looks and feels great to play with.
