These are basically the disposable model, I've been through so many of these. Philips does a good job of warranty exchanges, but the ones you receive under warranty have no serial or model number, so then when your replacement dies, you have to backtrack of which one did it replace and if that one is still under warranty, got tired of all the messing around switched to Quip. Will start replacing the other 3 sonicare's in my household as they all die.
This receipt will be available on amazon, but if you ever buy at a B&M store, email the paper receipt to yourself or something. I have uploaded receipts to my profile and had them disappear when warranty time came up.

One suggestion… when finished brushing teeth, pull the head off so it just sits on top of the handle. If not the seal will get nasty and fall apart.

In comparison chart, this 4100 model has pressure sensor and 2 intensity settings.

One thing to note about the sonicare. They changed the product at some point. It used to come with a two prong power plug charger and the unit was thicker. It had a slightly more powerful motor as well. They changed it silently to provide a USB plug instead so you have to use your own charger. And the new model is appreciably thinner. But if you use it at the higher setting (have to press the button twice in this unit), the difference in power is not that noticeable. Luckily the old charger still works with this one, even though the size of the brush is less thick now.
Sonicare has a large lineup of models that range in price from $20 to $400, they are not all built the same

This model uses a lower-cost motor, however it does not have the shaft issue that you experienced on the higher end model.
Actually it happens to me on the 4100 as well, but then it was the 'older' 4100. I realized they made the motor weaker on the 4100 but didn't know the issue was limited to only stronger motors.

Who knew even toothbrushes go through 'shrinkflation'. Smilie

On the bright side, the shaft doesn't fall off 😂
I imagine a lot of people don't mind the lower power, especially if new to electric toothbrushes

Good to know, so pissed by their shaft issue.

Unfortunately, yes it does. It will last a couple of years though. But then the shaft definitely break internally at some point. At that point there is nothing to do but throw it. I had it happen too many times. But then it happens in more expensive sonicare brushes too. I used to have a $120 so I are brush and the same thing happened. Learnt my lesson. I still like Sonicare. But don't like to spend more than $30-$40. Also, usage wise, there was no difference I could discern between that expensive model and this one.
Heard braun doesn't have that issue.

Glad I waited, I was so tempted for the 2100 (assumed this 4100 wasn't going on sale until the holidays)

If you already own a Sonicare and have a charger and brush heads, I've had pretty good experiences just buying the handles off of ebay. You can usually get some of the better model handles for only a few dollars more. Something like a flexcare platinum handle (HX91xx) can be had for a little more than $30 sometimes. Only downside would be no warranty but I've had multiple ebay handles in the family and they've lasted multiple years. You just need to make sure to regularly clean under the brush head to remove the gunk build up.

My existing 4100 requires frequent charging so battery is dying. Was thinking about buying replacement . Purchased 1100 for $19.99 which I will return. Perfect timing.

Might as well go for the 2100 model for only $1 more. I do like the pressure sensor on the 4100 though.
Good advice. I did just that. Ordered one yesterday. Thank you.

Decent deal and a cheaper option than any of the current Costco options. It would be nice if the battery could be replaced instead of the entire unit. My last one made it about 6 years somehow.

I like the pressure sensor and the head replacement alert. For only $5 more on sale the 4100 is worth it to me.
The head replacement alert on my VERY expensive version alerted me to replace the brush the second day I used it. Philips makes money on the brushes, not the machine.

When used as Philips recommends, the LEAST expensive Philips Sonicare works just as well and thoroughly as the most expensive version according to both me and my dentist. I've owned both. My six month checkups were identical.

Philips makes their money on the brushes, not the device. They keep adding useless features to the device to jack up the price. Do you REALLY need an app and a Bluetooth connection to the thing to brush your teeth properly?

I can second this; I bought one of the upper models, and had it for years. Purchased this model for my daughter 5 yrs ago, she never used it, so I began using it when mine broke....it's literally just as good as the one I had been using that was nearly 3 x as expensive.
