I think you're in the minority here. This tool is nearly universally loved by the M12 community and almost everyone who owns it says it's one of their favorite tools. Maybe you just got a bad one?
I'm not a big Milwaukee guy so I don't have a lot of knowledge about Milwaukee tools, but this definitely seems like a good deal. But for whoever might be wondering, the ratchet is not a fuel brushless ratchet. Only the drill in the kit is fuel brushless.
If I was in your shoes, I would buy a new one, and return the faulty one with the new receipt. Since I am not driving over an hour to their repair center.

You can't return the faulty one to HD? Since it is still within the 90 days return window. Probably you got a lemon driver.
Nope, it was over the 30-90 days. I talked to a manager and he told me I had to reach out to Milwaukee.

Unfortunately I did not know it was broken till then, because I was away from my home for months at a vacation home. When I got home to use it, is when I found out it was broken.

I kept the tool in my car, hoping I would catch the Milwaukee rep in the store to replace it, but he was never there when I was at the store. So I finally sent it out for repair.

Yeah, it feels wrong, but I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Been wanting this and the ratchet. Time to bite. I've used a friend's and love the feel of the driver. For my DIY purposes I believe it will offer a great deal of versatility on cabinet work where odd fastener locations benefit from configurable driver heads. TU to OP and repped.

Totally do this. Get the problem-unit back to Milwaukee where it belongs.

I rather have hd deal with the warranty, since they are a big company, and Milwaukee will caves to their demand, and since you just got the installation driver leas than 1 month ago and it was a dud. Your time and gas are worth more. Lol

I have the ratchet in this set use it for working on the car mostly. You have to loosen your bolts before using the ratchet, break the hold. Otherwise the heads on these snap pretty easy. That's direct from one of the reps I spoke with. I like the ratchet but it does feel cheap.

yep, that guy's tool breaking is literally the first time I've heard of anyone's breaking

it took me a little while to like this form factor over the standard form factor, but now I love this thing. Also, I don't know why another person mentioned they gave theirs to a relative and instead use their drill/driver- I use both on most jobs because then I don't have to swap drill bits for driving bits

According to Milwaukee, the heads should be strong enough to break bolts loose on anything that you would use a normal ratchet of that length for. I don't use mine professionally, but I've had no issues so far breaking bolts loose with this tool, and then spinning them off

You finally have a working unit. HD returns the broken one to Milwaukee. Milwaukee finally receives the broken one to repair or recycle. No one loses, except maybe someone has to wait to buy one at HD if they run out of stock.

Companies create these situations with stupid policies like Milwaukee's.

I've had the drill/driver for about 8 months now and it's been my go to now for most projects around the house. I have another drill that use to be my go to for over 5 years (more powerful and larger than the M12), but I barely use it now because how ergonomical and user friendly the M12 is. I would say if you're looking for a drill, especially one where you need the attachments for particular projects, this is a good buy. I don't have the ratchet so can't speak to that tool. When I bought this drill/driver, it was bundled with the orbital detail sander which I've used extensively as well.

I guess the installation driver I got last week is going back for this. I don't need another electric ratchet, I just want a red one.

Bought this for $199 a few days ago, just got off chat hoping to get a price adjustment but was told that since I did store pickup (ordered online though) I would have to go to the store for it. Grrrrr. What a waste. Am going to order it for shipping, then return the $199 one. So dumb.

I would avoid this drill/driver like the plague. I bought it because I liked the idea of the attachments to get to hard to reach areas. This tool broke as soon as I got it, specifically the driver setting. I had it repaired, but to do that you could not send it directly Milwaukee, you have to go to a local repair shop and then they send it out. The local repair shop for me was almost an hour away and they never fixed one of these so they had to send it directly to Milwaukee anyways. After the repair, the driver setting sometimes requires some extra button pressing to get it started. Also the reverse/forward button would have issues. On top of that when using it, it's a pain in the ass to click on the reverse/forward button while working. Junk. The ratchet on the other hand is awesome.
never heard of this. do it online with e-service repair on their website. they give you a fed ex label and you send it to them they send it back within 2 weeks. literalyl done this over 8 times in 5 years for various warranty issues. works like a clock - also i have owned this tool and love it. it has its place but when you need it, you need it. yes its not as powerful as the latest m12 impact yadda yadda yadda, but when you are in confined space or have a funky angle you WANT and NEED this.

Yeah but I already have a ratchet from last time, so my brain is telling me I need TWO ratchets!
well, you have two hands, don't you? or are you too weak to work two tools?
or - one for the truck, one for the garage.
give one to that neighbor that always helps you out.

It looks like they updated it. Before it would state it would not let you use the e-service. But I'm not even going to do that. I'm just returning it and replacing it with a new one. I'm done wasting my time with this broken one.

Is this deal hackable? I don't need the ratchet or other tools, I just want the installation driver.

This particular bundle is not hackable. But if you go to the Home depot website and select the installation driver only, you can get the free tool with purchase, and select ratchet. Thus making it hackable by returning ratchet. Installation driver will be priced at $113.
