This would be perfect for me to switch to from my current Mint plan, but I have many months left. Any way that I can buy this deal now and activate it later this year?

On Google fi for like a decade, but they have the worst customer service of literally any company I've ever dealt with. I recommend staying away.

can you elaborate? I just called customer service and both times they answered within seconds, and were very very friendly.

I was looking for this comment. If I didn't see it I would have made it.

I had Fi for 6 months it failed to make calls to my area (I know now my area cost more to route calls to, and this is most likely the reason. Google voice will not route calls to my area unless I pay for the calls. https://support.google.com/voice/...%3DDesktop ) I told support if I make a call with my home phone from a different carrier to a local number the call completes. But if i try with my fi number it will not route. This is a routing issue.

Ok so every time I called support I was asked to reboot my phone, collect logs. One time they told me to go to the number I was calling, so I called bullshit then I called their bluff and told them they would stay on the line while I drove over there, they changed their mind. They blamed the terminating number even when I proved I could call with my home phone. One day they made me drive 25 miles to make a test call (they actually tried this twice). Every call would end in a promise to raise the issue to routing. Finally I reported them to the fcc. I got a call from a Google Rep without an Indian accent he refunded me the 6 months and paid for the phone I bought to be on Fi. Instead of fixing the issue they bought me out so I would tell the FCC we are good.

Never ever again.

edit. why did I stay? my kid bought a phone on a discount through them so we were trying to make it work so we wouldn't get penalized.

When I checked the phone compatibility with an ulocked iPhone (SE, 11, 12,13) it says

Network switching
iPhone® does not support international network switching, but you'll still get great coverage.

So we cannot use another international SIM? just want to know if anyone tried.

Not op, but I am super happy with us mobile it uses either Verizon or a different carrier, you choose. The price is right. It allows for hotspot. Customer service is fantastic, not fantastic for a cell carrier, but fantastic for any company..

edit me, my wife and adult children use it. my son's wife switched to it. I got my mom on the low end plan because she never uses the phone.

if you travel frequently, it's better to move your number to google voice. then you can SMS with any data connection.
still need some sort of data connection for Google Voice to work.

Their service sucks, and also US Mobile's pricing beats basically everyone if you're not some heavy data user, as well as the ability to just pick which network you use. My wife and I use 5ish GB a month of data and we pay $22/mo for both of us.

I use US Mobile and like it a lot BUT there is no way its 22$ for both of you. The basic plan is 10$ per line and that includes only 2G. For 5G you need to top off on your data around another 10$ every other month approximately.

At this deal price it seems decent, but what is the appeal when it's not on sale? Seems like it's twice as much as what a half dozen other carriers offer

I have two phones, both unlocked and both compatible but I only need one plan. If I get a physical sim, does anyone know if I can just swap it out whenever I want to switch phones?

it's crazy I found this deal and apparently I'm not eligible for the promotion because I did a 7 day free trial may 2nd. If that's the case, I'm no longer a google supporter. Have 2 pixels and will never buy anything from this company again 100%.

Per their website: 2 lines with 5 GB shared data is 23/month including taxes and fees. https://www.usmobile.com/shared-data-plans
