Looks dead but doesn't seem good to me, junky blades that many report bend super easy. some of the ryobi tractors used lipo which only lasted a couple years but I'm not sure if these do too
Ryobi's first generation lawn mower's used lead-acid batteries, which had short life, especially in cold-weather areas.

This Ryobi model and the Ego that you mentioned both use Li-Ion batteries, and they are just about the best you can get for electric riding lawn mowers at this time.

I have a Ryobi electric zero turn that uses the same batteries. The batteries and cut are great after their first midwestern winter.

Theres the Kobalt one that has a 40 AH battery that is the same price. These are generally liked by some, HATED by a ton. A lot of Quality control issues, and RYOBI support for a ton of them have been abysmal.
If you get a good one keep it indoors or in a shed when not in use, otherwise it will not last very long. Lot of weathering issues over time on these units.

Got mine for 799 last year at Home Depot. Works good for what I paid but nowhere near as good as my gas mower. Blades shut off on thick/slightly wet grass where my gas unit runs right through with no issues

I have two of the Ryobi's that came with the AGM lead acid batteries, and those type of batteries really only last about a year or two and the problem is when one of before go out it pulls down the other ones in the charger cooks the rest of them I was able to salvage three of them out and use them for ups power supplies for servers just gives you a long runtime even on a smaller UPS but the cool thing about these mowers are you can swap out the lead acid batteries for lithium ion phosphate and you can put 150 amp hour batteries in them and that's what I've done with both of mine and they'll literally run all day. It's incredible. And those batteries are only about 150 apiece on eBay. So it's really a lot better of a deal than being stuck using Ryobi's proprietary batteries.

I've been wanting this mower so that I can replace my perfectly good 29-year-old gas rider but replacement batteries are $900 EACH and there are no generics available...besides it's OOS. If you are in the Ego ecosystem their mowers use their tool batteries which I see as a huge plus.

Glad to see they have li-ion now. I'm not sure which reviews you're looking at, the first result that came up showed both Ego zero turn and tractor, troy bilt, cub cadet, but zero ryobi models. Maybe some reviews have them at the top? Generally Ryobi isn't known for being the top of the "best" lists but rather for decent value for dollar. This seems like a decent deal but I wouldn't say ryobi is the best you can get for riding electric mowers. Even the hd star rating for this mower is 4 stars which isn't a great sign.

This mower uses a different battery. It is li-ion and proprietary, like Ego's.

I didn't mention any reviews, nor did I say ryobi is the best lawn mower. Good luck finding consensus on "best lawn mower". What I said is that this lawn mower has li-ion batteries, and those are are best kind of batteries you can find for lawn mowers at this time.
