Sounds like you aren't much of a photographer. These would work fine for lighting small products, flowers, back and edge lighting other objects etc. All sorts of things in a controlled studio environment especially when placed on a stand. Would it be my preferred? No, I've already got lots of other ways, but at this price it's a no brainer for playing around/multi-use.
I got mine and tested yesterday. Bottom line they work great for still or any photography. I only used one and it was great but will probably use both in tandem to get things a bit brighter. The diffuser really diffuses well and I can use it right in my light box and also by shining in from the outside.. After some little adjusting I am getting great and better color balance that I did with my clunky florescent photography lights. Shots are sharp as tack and need little or no post processing.

how'd you get two? I had to get the mom to buy a second one on her acct , the code wouldn't let me use it more than once.

I purchased two at the same time and the code applied to both.

This little light has so many lighting options in this one package it is unreal. Can't beat it for the price. It gets really bright and can be used for more than just photography stuff. With the magnetic backing, I got it to see how well it could be used for doing mechanic work in tight spaces. Yes I do have many other lights for this purpose. I liked it so much I got a 2nd one.

received this 2 days back...its small (pocketable), but also not that bright... good for dark room, but not enough for outdoor evening shots... there are better options that come and go near this price. but good item for fun videos/effects.

These have the brightest RGB colors I've tested. I have a TON of lights and none are as bright as the colors on these. They also have magnetic backs! These can't be beat at this price.

Yeah, they really have put a ton of options into this thing.

It's definitely video focused with options like police light flash patterns, and even different ones like firetruck, TV flicker, strobe, and bad light flickering.

So there are lots of effects for video, and it's a nice light to add on to photography to color a scene.

Can be run on battery, and stays on while charging too.

That was my thought as well and I ordered without waiting for a response. I have learned to take all small talk with grain of salt and it is best often to use your own mind and common sense.

Take my experience with a grain of salt, as you said. I have two of these, bought them last year, I think during Prime Day or holiday sales, $15 each. I used them extensively for video and stills (Canon SL3 for stills). I don't have a dedicated flash/strobe as I'm mixed 75% video and 25% stills.

In order to get these to really work, you have to shoot with a 50mm (80mm equivalent APS-C) and get about 5-6ft from subject. Drop off is very high, even at 100% brightness. Similar for video work.

For video, I use an FX30 and I try to use them between 50% to 75% strength (brightness) using something like an f1.2-1.4, 2500 ISO and 1/60 or 1/125 shutter speed.

I shoot mostly for private parties and events. I considered myself an amateur at best. Am an engineer professionally, and do photo and video as a hobby. I'm now using some 120W Ulanzi V-mount lights, which these don't hold a candle to.

I take with you say as truth and thanks for sharing it. What you explain is near exactly what I would expect before purchase and after purchase and use. I did not go in imagining they a were professional level equipment that would work for all occasions and situations.

This is the comment that I took with a grain of salt and as I surmised it is not really true in many or all cases. There is no information there.

I don't know about videography, but for still photography, it's not good at all.
My experience and yours show they do work for stills. I was not expecting them to work for everything or to replace a flash. They are working great for my Ebay stills that are shot mostly in lightbox or on table and not at a far distance. I think they even put as much or a bit more than my two 30W CFL photography tripod lamps that a hate with a passion as they are so tippy.

Thanks again for sharing that is very good information for anyone that may be considering them for more than you a or I need of them.

I have 3 of these lights. They are small and not very powerful but they do have their uses for both photo and video. Just have expectations on what they are. They're not going to replace studio lights but you can get creative with them. For example, I used three here. Foreground and background an orange color and then middle was teal. You can use them for accent lightings, light painting, etc...
