Boost Mobile [boostmobile.com] has 512GB Motorola edge+ 2023 Smartphone (Boost Mobile Locked, Black) on sale for $59.99 + $60 1-Month Unlimited Talk/Text/Data Service = $119.99. Shipping is free.

This phone is now back in stock at Boost. It's a steal at this price still has better specs than most phones out there especially with 512gb of storage. I bought one on last years deal and was able to unlock it via one of the unlockers who were kicked off of eBay. Many didn't have the unlock codes yet back then but would assume their available now. YMMV. I currently use mine with Instabridge esim for 5gb of free data a month. Just bought another for my wife.

Note, on product page select "I don't want protection" or Boost Protect will be added to cart at $12/month.

Specs (source [motorola.com]):
Processor: Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm)
Display: 6.7" 1080x2400 165Hz pOLED
RAM: 8GB LPDDR5X
Storage: 512GB
Operating system: Android 13
Battery: 5100mah
Cameras:
Rear Camera Hardware - 50MP, 1/1.5" optical format, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 2.0µm, Omni-directional PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization, 50MP Ultrawide angle (114° FOV), Macro Vision, f/2.2 aperture, 0.64µm pixel size | Quad Pixel, Technology for 1.28µm, 12MP Portrait (2x telephoto), f/1.6 aperture, 1.22µm pixel size, Ambient Light Sensor
Front Camera Hardware - 60MP, f/2.2 aperture, 0.61µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 1.22µm

The cheaper one without the 95% success rate worked just fine for me. The difference is in that the more expensive one doesn't have a restriction on Cricket devices.
I don't understand?

My phone has been shipped. Once I get it, should I unlock via code through those unlock sites or activate boost first or it doesn't matter?

Really doesn't matter but why not make sure everything works before you buy an unlock code? Just my thought process. In the unlikely event your unit was defective and you had to return it you wouldn't get refunded for the code.

Few more details: Download/install Smart Assitant. Download/extract lolinet RETUS A15. Run Smart Assitant, select Rescue It'll want to identify your device. Follow instructions to do so. It'll find boost model and recommend a firmware to rescue. Let it download and extract it. Abort the rescue. My PC location was ProgramData/RSA/Download/Romfiles. The extracted dish rom folder is in there. You're after the folder name only. Put the lolinet A15 extracted folder in same Romfiles directory and rename it to the dish rom folder (You'll have to move the dish folder elsewhere or rename it to avoid dupe folder names). Now that the A15 lolinet folder is same name as the Dish A14 folder, return to Smart Assistant and repeat rescue. This time it won't try to download since the folder already exists. Proceed with rescue. I let it wipe data since I don't have anything I cared about on it. It's probably doing standard adb commands really and doesn't care what you're flashing. I'm still carrier unlocked. Phone connected to 5G boost just fine during A15 setup. Yes I'm still on DISH software channel.
You're smart, you still have your warranty. I unlocked the bootloader on my phones, lost my warranty, and am still on the DISH software channel for them. So if all you want to do is get A15 and not a custom rom, there seems to be absolutely no reason to unlock the bootloader.

so what are the cons against this approach?

do u not get the ~ bi-monthly " patch updates" ? is that the only con?

not sure why it prorates because it charges full price when you activate even if only have 1 day of service left. Negative account balance will have to be correct by boost mobile support or paid they will send you to collections so don't use real name.
used real name so that cant be changed now
i am a bit concerned,
but in reality they prorated the month on the initial charge . so i should be ok

Are you thinking about doing it? Since the phone will arrive a few days into your next cycle, I guess it wouldn't make sense to order it now even though the prorated charge for the service is only $1.29. I assume if you let your service expire, you won't be able to activate the new phone until you prepay for all the lines on your account for the next month, which would be a disaster. I guess it is probably only safe to order new phones about 10 or so days before your billing cycle ends in case it takes them longer to ship them out.
no chance. i have 3 in total . im fine with that

All my old Moto phones have gone without RMA. I still have the Moto E from 2015 and Z3 Play. Moto devices are solid. You definitely need warranty coverage for Pixels though! laugh out loud

Spot on, but that con applies to both approaches since the software channel is what determines when you get updates (ie the carrier approves and pushes them). The only con in leaving the bootloader locked would be there could be some yet to be discovered bug with the Android update unable to actually have been fully installed. Chances on that are minimal though since supernoman seems to have been able to boot it up just fine and set it up.

but if super is still on dish channel, should they not get the updates?

i guess there really wouldn't be any i they are on A15.
when officially the updates would be for A14

i am debating on trying this, but i am quite the novice regarding this stuff.
maybe best to stay on A14 for me

I almost jumped on the recent samsung trade-in deal but have seen this phone posted before but missed it. Just pulled the trigger. I hope to unlock it shortly after receiving. So the bootloader can be unlocked on this? Do custom ROMS retain the ReadyFor desktop mode? That's a mandatory feature for me; I use my viture AR glasses. I'm hoping once Google gets off their ass and releases their official desktop mode next year it will become ubiquitous.

That would need to be added specifically by the ROM creator. Custom ROMs, for the most part, are not built from the ground up for a specific device. What you'll often find is a universal ROM project that's tuned for a specific device's hardware, mainly CPU/GPU/Display/Camera/Sensors and not much more.Would recommend to follow the instructions posted a couple pages back for flashing over to RetailUS Android 15 and your phone will be free of carrier-specific bloat. Then you have the option to root, the downside being it becomes a cat and mouse game on getting certain apps to work--Google Pay, banking apps, certain multiplayer games.
