For those that may be after this 805 BB has OB for $1838, new is $1999.
Not the lowest but the low price($1500) has not replicated, unlikely to do so imo.
There are slight differences between the Onkyo RZ70, for the most part they are the same.

FYI this is the one Pioneer that does not have global crossovers.
Has 4 sub outs, 3 & 4 run parallel/mono.

Before,to my ears the X4800 didnt offer me more than the Onkyo RZ50
Honestly it a whim purchase due to the high discount, just like the Kef speakers
I figured it if I liked it more than it would literally cost me nothing to change ...when I sold the prior unit
As for practically twins..I doint know
I watched a video online with the factory rep where they opened a denon X6800 and a Cinema 30. The Marantz had a lot more beefier parts..Power supply , capacitors to name a few that they specifically brought up
According to them there was a 43% parts difference in the two
Denon 4800 uses same DAC and same 15,000 microfarad capacitors
https://audionet.com.tw/thread-17101-1-1.html
Cinema 40 uses same DAC and same 15,000 microfarad capacitors
https://audionet.com.tw/thread-16500-1-1.html
Slight difference for the next pairing....
Denon 6800 uses same ES DAC and 15,000 microfarad capacitors
https://audionet.com.tw/thread-17353-1-1.html
Cinema 30 uses same ES DAC and better 22,000 microfarad capacitors
https://audionet.com.tw/thread-17523-1-1.html
Good luck hearing the difference b/w the above respective pairings! LOL!
The main room was a side note..as its really not even part of the conversation
Unless I find a Storm audio prepro at a major discount I dont see that room changing anytime soon..
As far as Dirac , or frankly any room correction, it was really not the main topic for me in this application
I stated 80%( in reality its probably 90%)_ of my use would be for 2 channel music with no room correction engaged
So that is what I am shopping for
You seem to hyper focused on room correction for some reason?
Not even sure what you mean by I didnt explain how Dirac RC would be " backward sonically"
The only thing I mentioned that was backwards " sonically", or better said not a step forward, was specific units compared to others for my intended use
To my ears the Denon X4800 versus the RZ50 is a perfect example
The Denon X4800 added nothing sonically over the RZ50 for me in this application
None of units, for this application, even included auditioning with room correction engaged
It seems you are confused or didnt understand the intent of my specific application
I'm pretty sure the guy you responded to wasn't after a 2.0 setup answer to his question about this compared to the Cinema 40!
Who the heck would consider this or the Cinema 40 for a 2.0 no RC setup, even at these prices!!! 🤪
In that same response YOU brought up room correction(Dirac) as an advantage or disadvantage(backward sonically) & cost!
Still don't know which is your opinion since you keep switching lanes!
Should be a simple answer since again it's the same performance no matter what "unit" it's on! 🙄

I just officered my opinion based on my set up
I have no idea what you are talking about
Please past the response you are speaking about and I will try to clarify
I only pointed out an answer to the Cinema 40 based on my personal ownership
You seem confused, IMO
Backwards sonically, Dirac..LOL WTF..

Oh wow......spoken by someone who said they would not participate in PAC AVR threads and doesnt own what he is speculating/conjecturing about..LOL
It just keeps getting better...
I HIGHLY suggest that if someone is serious about buying this that they read through the pages of AVS forum actual owners. Many of whom have owned this unit since the day it was released

Paper wise sure I'll leave that to them.
Audible wise there really isn't any big difference to going with anything above the 3800/Cinema 50(6800/Cinema 30 are exceptions) especially for the cost imo.
Unless you know you NEED the extra power.
Even then paying extra for internal power isn't ideal imo.
With external power you pay for power once, always much better performance, never become obsolete.
This topic is a perfect example.
You add external power to the 3800 or Cinema 50, good luck hearing a difference with the 4800,40 especially for the extra cost.
I ended up going with the 3800, added both DL & DLBC.
Using it as a pre pro, it sonically performs better than all those 11 channel AVRs including this and Onkyo RZ70 imo.

I am also demoing the Cinema 40 right now on my home
This unit is closer to the Cinema 30… which I also own… in performance
I would say there is substantial power difference. These units actually outperform their posted power ratings
If you are not planning on using external amplification my choice would be pioneer all day
If planning on using external amplification and paying for all the Dirac licenses is something you plan on doing this has the advantage is Dirac ART availability
This is assuming Dirac ART adds a meaningful difference . I do not own a Storm Audio product so I can't comment on what Dirac ART adds in my personal ownership evaluation
Meaning I would not go backward sonically, to my ears, to gain another functionality
The example I used earlier installed now in my situation
If my ears didnt think a new product was at least the sonic equal of the Arcam AV41...even thought this new product offered ART....then I would not consider it to replace the current Arcam AV41 in place now
Hence the reason I didnt keep the Denon X4800...for 2 channel music it offered nothing more, to my ears than the Onkyo RZ50
The Cinema 30, to my ears a is a different and better animal than either one
Hence the reason why I am keeping it
I am on the fence on the Cinema 40

Here you go have fun reading through all that convoluted 2.0 mess!!!
Out of all those AVRs you stated you purchased/added DLBC to ONE Arcam, what was the benefit over Dirac Live?
I HIGHLY suggest that if someone is serious about buying this that they read through the pages of AVS forum actual owners. Many of whom have owned this unit since the day it was released

Not much talk about using it for a 2.0 setup though!
There is a lot of talk about Dirac though, sounds pretty important!

You did notice that right ?
So are you saying there is speculation about the unit and use of it that they already own?

You are confused
I asked you to post where you said I gave someone a suggestion
Again.. where was all that bringing up of Dirac you mentioned I kept bringing up?
I consistently understand why they only want owners of the product posting in the avs forum dedicated threads

That's ALL owners & not speculation!!! 😳

No one said you kept bringing up Dirac.
You were asked a specific question since you claim to be an owner of DL & DLBC.
Should be a very simple answer!

Which is kinda odd since it seems like he mainly doesn't even use room correction! 🤔
