This is a good price. The cost per TB iinfo is useful, however while the cost for those who use a Amazon Prime Visa card is given for the 20TB version, it is not given for the 14TB version. For the smaller drive using the Amazon card giving the standard 5% back the cost is approx 11.54 / TB.
This is a potential advantage of buying from Amazon rather than BB, depending on what cashback cards or memberships you have at BB.

Does anything know how the 10 perfect thing adult work? Is that automatically applied for student accounts?

It seems like the price of the 20TB version has now increased to $279.99 ($14/TB).

Seems like a decent deal; if you want an internal 20TB drive for a home media server or other RAID, this is cheaper than buying just a drive. Otherwise, you're limited by a fairly slow interface (USB) and the firmware on the enclosure will cripple your capabilities.

However, note that shucking the drive (removing it from the enclosure) will void the warranty.

I purchased the 14TB, did not take advantage of the Amazon Prime Credit Card (though I have) because I also had AMEX offer for 50% up to $80 with pay with points. I used some of it already so I had $57 left. Basically paid like $120. Also got the young adult cash back b/c right now I am on a student prime but it was calculated at like $11. I guess that will go back to my Amazon account . Overall good deal. I wrote in the other post a few days ago for $199 to hold out.

You're right, Amazon adjusted from $270 to 280 but I don't think I can edit my original post once it's FP by staff.

The 14TB drive is no longer the default option on Amazon because delivery is pushed beyond NE Business but it is still orderable at $170 with delayed delivery. Thank you zerweck for doing the work to calculate price/tb info using Prime Visa's 5% cashback. $161.49 ($11.54/TB) when you have that 5% back.

I'm moving from a 4TB SSD and plan on storing all my Time Machine / iPhone Backups on this thing + some media that I'll move locally between machines as necessary. Would it be overkill to buy 2 just to have redundancy? I know in practice I should have a backup of the backup but reasonably don't want to own two external HHD's because I'm unlikely to implement that best practice.

Anecdotally, I just RMI'd an older 14TB drive that I shucked, no issues returning to WD. just be sure you keep the enclosure and the box it came in. The serial number on the box matches what's on the enclosure.

I'm getting $192.49. Also, this ships from and is sold by Newegg. I'm not sure I am comfortable with Newegg.
